I'm a cat lover and I'm very glad this kitty was rescued, but it is a silly story. It was a natural occurrence--it's not like some cruel person did this to the cat. It just happened. It's ok to chuckle...

I also found it uproariously funny when I fell off a roller coaster after it left the platform with me half in it (my fault, and it hurt like heck) - but only after the fact. I guess I'm innately cruel to myself, as well...

If the first reaction is to laugh, agreed. But, like when seeing a person take a fall and determining that no harm was done except to pride, laughing is not necessarily cruel. It can be a release of tension caused by concern.
