I just received a call from my brother letting me know our Dad just suffered a stroke and is going into surgury as I write this. He's hell on wheels usually and we pray he recovers successfully. There is a chance we will lose him or he recovers without the ability to speak. The doctors say he has a better than even chance of a good outcome, but at 85 years old I'm requesting your help in the form of prayers.
My Dad is a WWII vet and one hell of a guy. He has never ceased to amaze me with his wide range of abilities and wit.... and even though he has always been tough as nails with me, I love him with all my heart.

Your post on your father's stroke is a wonderful tribute to him. I join the other FReepers in prayer for him, and thank God for such an inspiring and giving person. I ask Jesus to give your father peace and healing, and to bless you, Nam Vet, and your family. Keep the faith!

God bless your father for his service. The equipment back then was pathetic, which only adds to the achievement of WWII vets. Two prayers sent from here....

Dear Nam Vet, Please know your Dad is in our prayers. Our Dad (Vets_Husbands Dad) is a WWII Vet. He's one of the few WWII B-17 Bomber pilots still alive. One of the few, one of the brave that are still alive, just like your Dad. And Vets Wife Dad is alive too. He's a WWII Vet too. A Coast Guard Vet, a cook. There aren't many of our men from those days still here with us. We are so blessed to have them. So we know this has to be so hard for you. We can't imagine what this must be like for you. To be so worried like this, to see him so sick. We saw Pop have a heart attack and a stroke. But buy George he pulled through and in a few months was as good as new. Both of our Dads are still with us, and they are wry and healthy and fun and so full of life. We want you to know our prayers are with you and we are praying with all our hearts for you tonight.
Tell your Dad we thank him for his service, and we send him our best. Our prayers to the Father!
