A.)Studies show a prevalance of same-sex sexual abuse in the childhoods of homosexuals.
1.) From May 1989 through April 1990, 1001 adult homosexual and bisexual men attending sexually transmitted disease clinics were interviewed regarding potentially abusive sexual contacts during childhood and adolescence. 37% of participants reported they had been encouraged or forced to have sexual contact before age 19 with an older or more powerful partner; 94% occured with men. Median age of the participants at first contact was 10; Median age difference between partners was 11 years.
(L.S. Doll, "Self-Reported Childhood and Adolescent Sexual Abuse Among Homosexual Bisexual Men," Child Abuse and Neglect 16, no 6. (1992) pp. 855-64)
2.) A study of 279 homosexual/bisexualmen with AIDS and control patients reported: "More than half of both case and control patients reported a sexual act with a male by age 16 years, approximately 20% by age 10 years."
(Harry W. Haverkos, "The Initiation of Male Homosexual Behavior," The Journal of the American Medical Association 262 (July 28, 1989): 501)
3.) The SIGMA Project (1992) which interviewed and followed almost 1,000 homosexuals in Britain over a six year period, found that 50% of homosexuals had had their first same-sex experience with an adult by the age of 14. 25% of those homosexuals had had sex with an adult by the age of 12, and 10% by the age of 10.
4.) A study of 425 homosexual males, ages 17 to 22, reported that 41.4% reported an occasion of forced sex. 79 of the boys reported beginning anal sex with men when they were ages 3 to 14.
(Lemp, G., Hirozawa, A., Givertz, D., Nieri, G., Anderson, L., Linegren, M., Janssen, R., Katz, M., (1994) Seroprevalance of HIV and Risk Behaviors Among Young Homosexual and Bisexual Men. Journal of the American Medical Association)
5.) The Archives of Sexual Behavior reports "One of the most salient findings of this study i sthat 46% of homosexual men and 22% of homosexual women reported having been molested by a person of the same gender."
(Marie E. Tomeo, "Comparative Data of Childhood and Adolescent Molestation in Heterosexual and Homosexual Persons, "Archives of Sexual Behavior 30 (2001): 539)
B.) A child experiencing same-sex molestation dramatically increases the likelihood that a child will become a homosexual as an adult.
1.) Dr. Dickson's study showed a relationship between early childhood sexual abuse and a child's later involvement in homosexual behaviors. According to Dickson, an alarming 49% of homosexuals surveyed had been molested compared to less than 2% of heterosexuals.
(Dickson, Gregory, Ph.D., "An Empirical Study of the Mother/Son Dyad in Relation to the Development of Adult Male Homosexuality: An Object Relations Perspective.")
2.) Researchers at the Kinsey Institute have found "a strong relationship between those whose first experience was homosexual and those who practiced homosexuality later in life."
3.) The 1995 Massachusetts Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance found that gay, lesbian and bisexual lifestyle orientation was associated with having had sexual intercourse before the age of 13, and with having experienced sexual contact against one's will.
(R. Garafolo, "The Association between Health Risk Behaviors and Sexual Orientation Among a School-Based Sample of Adolescents," Pediatrics 101 (1998): 895-902)
4.) The work of Bell, Weinberg and Hammersmith found early homosexual experiences to be "very strong indicators of future, adult homosexuality."
(Bell, Weinberg, Hammersmith(1978))
5.) Stduies conducted by Diana Shrier and Robert Johnson in 1985 and 1988 found that males who had been sexually abused as children were almost 7 imes as likely as non-molested boys to become homosexuals.
6.) Noted child sex abuse expert David Finkelhor found that boys victimized by older men were over four times as likely to be currently engaged in homosexual activity than were non-victims. The finding aplied to nearly half the boys who had such an experience...Further, the adolescents themselves often linked their homosexuality to their sexual victimization experiences."
(Bill Watkins & Arnon Bentovin, "The Sexual Abuse of Male Children and Adolescents: A Review of Current Research, "Journal of Child Psychiatry 33 (1992); in Bryen Finkelman, Sexual Abuse (New York: Garland Publishing, 1995): p. 316)
C.) In comparison to heterosexual men, homosexual men disproportionately molest children and target children to sexually abuse them.
1.) While many homosexuals do not seek out young sexual partners, evidence indicates that disproportionate numbers of homosexual mn seek adolescent males or boys as sexual partners.
(Zebulon A. Silverstone & Vernon L. Quinsey, "Sexual Partner Age Preferences of Homosexual and Heterosexual Men and Women, p.73)
2.) A stduy in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that homosexual men are attracted to young males. The study compared the sexual age preferences of heterosexual men, heterosexual women, homosexual men and lesbians. The results showed that, in marked contrast to the other three categories, "all but 9 of the 48 homosexual men preffered the youngest two male age categories," hich included males as young as age 15.
(Zebulon A. Silverstone & Vernon L. Quinsey, "Sexual Partner Age Preferences of Homosexual and Hetersoxual Men and Women, p. 73)
3.) Researchers Bell, Weinberg and Hammersmith, 1978 found that a quarter of homosexuals admitted to ahving sex as adults with children and underaged teens.
(Homosexualities: A Stduy of Diversity Among Men and Women, 1978)
4.) Research by the Kinsey Institue found in 1970 that 25% of homosexual men in San Francisco "admitted to having sex with boys aged 16 or younger while they themselves were at least age 21.
5.) "Individuals from 1 - 3% of the population that are sexually attracted to the same sex are commiting up to one-third of the sex crimes against children."
(Timothy J. Dailey, Homosexuality and Child Sexual Abuse, http://www.frc.org/get/is02e3.cfm)
6.) A stduy of 229 convicted child molesters found that "86% of offenders against males described themselves as homosexual or bisexual."
(W.D. Erickson, "Behavior Patterns of Child Molesters," Archives of Sexual Behavior 17 (1988): 83)
Homosexual men disproportionatley target young males for sex and also disproportionately sexually abuse children in comparison to heterosexuals. Children abused sexually by homosexuals are far more likely to become homosexuals when adults versus children who weren't sexually abused as children by homosexual males. There is a strong prevelance of same-sex sexual abuse in the childhoods of homosexuals.
Parents who don't want their child to grow up to become gay, should absolutely not let their young boys around homosexual men. Its not worth the risk.
***Lastly, one of the conclusion which can bederived from these studies is that most of these homosexuals who became homosexual as a result of their childhood victimization would not have become homosexual were it not for the sexual abuse they received. These homosexuals were clearly not "born that way."
Can't these people just get some therapy and not spend their lives as perverts?
This thread, and the studies, shows that while homosexuals aren't "born that way", some are "bred that way."
As well, this thread, along with the studies, blows the lid off some of the dirty little secrets concerning homosexuality
And yet some States allow Queers to adopt.
As I've said before, the vast majority of lesbians I know were all sexually abused as young girls by men, mostly by men in their family.
Anecdotally speaking, my little beach town has a large population of gay and lesbian people. The lesbians I have gotten to know well enough to discuss childhood experiences have all admitted to either childhood sexual abuse or spousal abuse in their early 20s. They do not connect this to their lesbianism, however. But I do...
The studies which I have presented connects them together....
Would be nice. They can't really get, or acknowledge they need, therapy when so many in the psychology field now buy into the idea (by force or education) that homosexuality is a 'lifestyle' choice (barring any genetic abnormalities) and one may be predisposed. This is an about face, pressured by society, the media and the gay movement, from what the psychologists believed and studied and tested for in the past. I'm surprised to see the article published.
Makes a lot more sense than the "gay gene" BS.
There are also studies for lesbians which are similar to the ones which I have presented ...that's the connection I was talking about. Forgot to say that.
I'll have to read this later
I have seen the same thing...every gay woman I know have had traumatic sexual experiences, or traumatic physical treatment by men, usually when the women were in their teens or twenties. Date rape. Sexual abuse by family members. Every single gay women I have known has something like this in their background.
And many of them are angry with men because of it. Long past the time they should have healed.
Sad. Repercussions of bad actions.
Indeed. The abuse may not come from the homosexual parents, but a friend of the parents. Birds of a feather...
It's "nice" that these things are coming out (oh - a pun!), but who needs a study? It's just common sense that a homosexual has been abused, or neglected. A dominant mother and weak or absent father can also have the same result.
Lefties will blame every sort of behavior on abuse or neglect EXCEPT homosexuality.
Studies, and compilations of them like this, are needed so that gays, liberals...the usual suspects...wont call it just 'opinion'.
Of course, I realized that. I just had to get my oar in!
Just as an example, Rosie O'Donnell recently said that she had been abused sexually as a child - by a relative.
I'm thinking the real number found by the first study would be close to 99%. I have heard dozens of gay men describe their first sexual encounter, and without exception, it has always been what I would health-care workers would readily term molestation if it were heterosexual.
I even stated this on a FReeper thread, and had three people strenuously object to the statement, citing individuals they knew. When I pressed further, all three revealed that the person they knew had, indeed, been molested by my definition.*
(* I would define "molested" as having sex prior to the completion of puberty, with someone whose more advanced age or authority precluded free consent, or with someone old enough not to be naturally a peer.)
>>>A dominant mother and weak or absent father can also have the same result.
Perhaps Dick Cheney should return quickly from the undisclosed location.
