The reason you don't hear as much about the Communists, is that they didn't film their gulags and they kept their atrocities a secret, whereas the Nazis filmed theirs for posterity. So we have the images, which are much more powerful than just mere words could ever be.
I think this thing was blown way out of proportion. It was a costume party, not a public appearance event. I guess the hate the royal crowd in England is their equivalent of the hate Bush crowd here. Maybe the prince should have fake-mooned the press.

When I was a pup, I doodled some swastikas on my homework one night (really didn't know what they were at the time). Dad, who spent part of his childhood under Nazi Occupation, was not amused.
