"Un-augural” Reception To Honor Veterans Who Helped Defeat John Kerry’s Election Bid

…At the National Press Club on Jan. 20

(Washington, DC, January 20) Leaders of prominent “527” military service veterans groups, film producers and authors who made substantial contributions to the veterans revolt against Senator John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential bid will be honored by their supporters at a tongue-in-cheek “Un-augural” reception at the National Press Club on January 20, 2004. The event will celebrate the absence of Senator Kerry from the Inauguration Day proceedings, most particularly the swearing-in ceremony.

Among those receiving special awards will be:

Swift Vets & POWs for Truth
Vietnam Vets for the Truth
Authors of the best-selling book Unfit to Command
Creators of the documentary film Stolen Honor

U.S. Army Infantry veteran Lou Priebe, who is helping coordinate the reception’s arrangements, said, “These courageous advocacy groups and individuals richly deserve the recognition which they will receive from their many friends who are profoundly grateful for their invaluable service during the 2004 Presidential election. These staunch men and women made extremely important contributions in helping tell the truth about Kerry’s actual record during and after the Vietnam War and about his lack of fitness to serve as America’s Commander-in-Chief. We’re celebrating the fact that Kerry is not being inaugurated on January 20 and honoring the exemplary people who helped make his absence from the historic day’s ceremonies a reality!”

The reception will begin at 11:00 am in the First Amendment Room of the National Press Club, overlooking the Inaugural Parade route at the intersection of 14th & F Streets, NW.

This event is not a part of the official 2005 Presidential Inauguration.

Very good. It looks like the event is attracting a few celebrities. Grover Norquist has confirmed, and Ben Stein has expressed interest. John O'Neill, alas, has another engagement...

I spoke with O'Neill yesterday. He does not want to be anywhere near the Inaugural. From the beginning, he has made it clear that what he was doing was not for George Bush. He was stopping an unfit potential commander in chief. It was a non-partisan effort.
