Don't get defensive. Tobacco is addicting - I know I smoked for 30 years. Quitting was the hardest thing I ever did.
People who don't smoke don't understand. It still galls me to hear a never-smoker with their damn sanctimonious "just stop" crap-- just like the stupid mayor in this piece.
And yes, smoking was pleasurable. I sometimes dream about it, but lately I turn it down in my dreams (a good sign my subconscious is on board after 5 years).

Don't get defensive. Tobacco is addicting - I know I smoked for 30 years. Quitting was the hardest thing I ever did. What's addicting about it is enjoyment. If people didn't enjoy it, they could quit with no problem.
My Dad quit cold turkey. He got up one morning, went to light up and threw it down. He couldn't STAND smoking anymore, so he quit.
That's why it's hard for people to quit. They enjoy it. If I hated something, I surely wouldn't put it in my body.
