Until then....it's war...and let the best man win...

I remember when a man would be embarrassed to whine like this.

I remember as a teenager cleaning my car windshield on the inside and the towel turning brown as I wiped.

Why did you allow smokers in your car?
Wait.

Oh. The reformed prostitute thing. Never mind.

You're real cute. Pat yourself on the back for being an intolerant radical.

"Mayor Anderson’s pompous arrogance in stating that the ban will help smokers to “break the habit” is outrageous. It is not his job to be neither a social engineer nor the arbiter of personal choices."

Does THIS actually surprise anyone??? We are under Siege by these same "social engineering" Liberal types here in Austin,TX. Sad part is, they are slowly winning.

"Been using tobacco since 1983.... don't plan on stopping."

What a new comer, I started smoking in 1948 and don't plan to stop.

I WISH we had the money to fight them.

Tobacco companies depend on smokers. That's what they are in business for. They have the money.

Just a question, but what if someone (or organization) were to approach them about funding a lobby, quietly?

I know what you mean. On submarines the air handling devices drip with yellow/brown goo from the smokers. I remember as a teenager cleaning my car windshield on the inside and the towel turning brown as I wiped.

My fingers must not be conveying what I mean. When smoking was allowed on airplanes, they cleaned the filters regularly. Then, once smoking was banned, the idiots thought that they didn't have to clean the filters as much.

When they do, the filters are filthy dirty. And the passengers are breathing this. Smoking was not the sole culprit. Germs and diseases brought onto the plane by sick passengers is the real culprit.

I have no problem with you smoking in airports as long as your smoke does not go up my nose or stink up my clothes.........Polybius

With your neuroses, I can't help asking: Why would you go into a smoking room? In an airport or anywhere else...?.......Publius6961

My neuroses?

It seems that you are projecting here.

All I said was that I have no objection to smokers smoking at airports as long as their smoke did not go up my nose or stink up my clothes.

I never mentioned going into a segregated smoking area and, if you use a re-breather, you can sit right next to me in the aircraft and smoke the re-breather equivalent of an entire carton during the flight for all I care.

They're not. By far the greatest incidence of "air rage" is over alcohol...

Probably irritated smokers. Reference the above article that said the rage dramatically increased after the smoking ban. Thus the problem is irriatable smokers.

I think he is 14. I ran across another JoeSnuffy on the Net once, and he was just a kid. Computer geek.

As a smoker and a frequent flyer, it's gotten harder and harder, and when the ban on butane lighters goes into effect in a few days (and probably on matches), it's going to get almost impossible.

Since all the shops are now in secure areas, they won't be allowed to sell lighters or matches, further delaying the time the smoker must wait to light up after a long flight. I don't mind going outside the airport to smoke, but if they ban matches, too, that won't even be possible.

Non-smokers can grouse all they want. I don't blow smoke in your faces. I don't want to. But, as long as smoking is a legal activity, I will probably continue to smoke.

Airports which have enclosed smoking areas which exhaust air to the outside have the best idea. Shoot...I'd pay to use them. That might be a revenue generator for the airports, IMO.

I don't need a nanny. I don't need someone to tell me that smoking's bad for me. I know that. It's my choice. I won't blow smoke in your face. I won't smoke in restaurants. But, please, be a little tolerant, OK?

They probably didn't. Have you ever seen air handling devices serving a group of smokers? Ugly.

If you are, your screen name is damn funny.

Your comment makes no sense.

I've always thought the original Lynyrd Skynyrd was a great band.

My screen name is a homage to them.

Are you in favor of the "smoking bans"?

I say end the hypocrisy.

Treat tobacco the same way as weed. Both either legal or illegal.

They took over Maine.  And we all know that Maine is a BLUE state.  Someone said yesterday that the Republican's are the ones passing smoking bans. I beg to differ.

Maine is run by a huge pack of Rats, and they are the ones that pushed these bans through.  There is no smoking in any restaurant, bar, sports inns or taverns in the state of Maine.
