A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

I'm In Debt

Read: Romans 1:8-17

I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. —Romans 1:14

Bible In One Year: Genesis 20-22

A shopper underestimated the total cost of her groceries. When the cashier added up the items, the woman was $4 short. Then something unusual happened. The man behind her in the checkout lane saw her digging through her purse and motioned to the clerk to put the amount on his bill. He modestly refused to give the woman his name.

A few days later, the local newspaper reported that a charity organization had received a $4 check with the following note: "This check is for the man who helped me out of a tight spot. I came up with the idea of giving it to you as a thank-you to him."

This incident illustrates a vital spiritual principle. We should feel an obligation to pass along to others the kindnesses shown to us. That's how the apostle Paul responded to God's mercy. Of course, he could never repay the Lord for salvation, but that didn't stop him from openly showing his gratitude. Because of what he had received, he showed the highest kind of charity—sharing the gospel with others.

Let's not think that because we can't repay God for saving us, we owe Him nothing. We are indebted to Him for everything. The least we can do is show our appreciation by telling others about Him. —Mart De Haan

How much I owe for love divine!
How much I owe that Christ is mine!
But what He did for me I know,
I cannot tell how much I owe. —Hamilton

Jesus gave His all for us. Do we give our all for Him?

Good morning, and thank you for today's Good Samaritan Story. Refreshing to read about the good people do for no reason other than because they are good people, and kind and generous.

Good morning, Texagirl - I'm glad you liked the roses - a bit of a departure from the usual TGIF graphics we post on Fridays with the weekend threads. A special guy who calls himself wolfie is so good at helping keep me armed with the TGIF opening graphics, and I loved this one, too!

I haven't posted very much in the last week, but have been reading my comments and have read about your sister and keeping up with her progress. Know it's slow, but it is steady, isn't it, and that's good. :)

I made a resolution to read the Bible all the way thru this year!

If you read the Daily Bread and also read the links at the top of the page,
in one year you will have read the whole Book!
With greater understanding.... : )

Thank you for the hug, and the coffee, too! Sorry my threads are usually so late arriving, but I'm just not an early riser and don't stay online late at night. Sigh! Such a slacker I am. LOL!

Such a slacker I am

Mornin' Ms Slacker. :) I think I can relate.

Another storm presented itself overnight with rain and winds. Weatherman is calling for 2 - 5 feet of new snow in the higher elevations of the Sierras. Down here in the valley, signs of spring are sprouting up in the flower bed - tulips, daffy-dils and crocus. Just a matter of time until shorts and t-shirts weather.

May your roses never wilt.

The teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it.

The next day the kids came back and one by one began to tell their stories. "Johnny, do you have a story to share?"

"Yes ma'am. My daddy told a story about my Aunt Karen. She was a pilot in Desert Storm and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory and all she had was a small flask of whiskey, a pistol and a survival knife. She drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't break and then her parachute landed right in the middle of twenty enemy troops. She shot fifteen of them with the gun until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, till the blade broke, and then she killed the last Iraqi with her bare hands."

"Good Heavens" said the horrified teacher. "What kind of moral did your daddy tell you from this horrible story?"

"Stay the hell away from Aunt Karen when she's drinking."

Hi Billie, Finest sistahs and FR Friends. We had a big ice storm Wednesday and lost our power about 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Our county was basically "shut down" until today and they don't expect to get most of the residential areas power up until Monday. The downtown businesses power was up this morning so atleast I could come into work, clean up and get my daily freep fix before I get to work. Trees are down everywhere (including many of ours). Fortunately we have a gas fireplace, a good outdoor grill and lots of candles.

dansy...great job with John's essay yesterday...so glad I was able to give you my birthday greeting a day early! ((((dansy))))
