All numbers are used in an exact format, clearly stating there will be a 10 nation confederacy, with 7 nations that take over 3 nations.
The number 10 cannot be just a symbol if 7 take over 3, and combine to make 10.

I've gotten into many arguments with my brother-in-law over this stuff. Personally I say it doesn't matter, our job is to follow the Scriptures, and believe and have faith in the Lord. Who cares when the end comes, it doesn't matter.
This article is filled with enormous interpretive errors such as above. "He has two horns like a lamb." That's A lamb, not "THE" lamb (i.e. the Christian church). If the scripture meant "the lamb" it would have been written as "the lamb" not "like a lamb."
The False Prophet will cause the statue to speak. That of course is believable today, though when Christians read that prophecy in previous eras it might have seemed impossible. However, with machines now equipped with human voices, we now take that phenomenon as not a phenomenon at all.

There is no statue. The scripture says "image."
The image speaks, not a statue. Your TV display talking images, so does your computer. TV and Internet images can reach billions simultaneously; one statue can't do that.

There is already a group on Earth that marks their forehead with the symbol of 666 (that symbol is a book with 6666 paragraphs and the "mark" is obtained by bowing so low either to the book or by the authority of the book so often that a permanent contusion or scar emerges on their foreheads); more precisely, only the most "holy" of that group earn the mark. Those few "holy" leaders hold authority over neighborhoods, towns, and even whole regions already today. In some cases, those local leaders even do all of the buying and selling for their group in their area.
This group also has yet another interesting attribute: it lies profusely to its naive believers.
