I suppose it would be best to convict someone based on the fact that he is a cad?
He never told her anything that would implicate him in the murder of his wife. Only that he was cad/dog and wanted the best of 2 worlds. Her testimony In my opinion did not seal his fate, if you have circumstantial evidence it helps to add the cad factor and he was convicted, no more no less imho.
It is an interesting ploy to make the jury hate a defendant and the prosecution through Amber showed him to be a casanova and turned up the hate factor.
Perhaps that's so. But I do believe it also bolstered the prosecution's theory as to motive.
But it seems like certain people want to elevate Amber to heroine status. And that she is not. Doing the right thing by going to the police should be expected, not rewarded.

And so therefore, it's okay to call her a slut? Geesh.
Here's who Ted Maher is. This was more of a big case in Europe then here.

My beloved had said tonight that Scott may well have want to kill his wife and son once he met Amber. I am not sure we will ever know the truth but her invovlment with Scott may have pushed him over the edge to be indeed a widower.
I am just having trouble watching folks make money of of their civic duty to serve on a trial. I can only imagine that there are folks jumping at the bit for a duty of a big name, why not, there is instant money for their wares, I just think it is unseemly and wrong. Period.
The prosecution bolstered the cad facter. I would have omitted that from the trial, it just went over the top to have the jurors hate the defendent verses paying attention to the facts of the case.

Quite possibly. But the blame for that lies at That Man's feet, not hers, imo. How many guys cheat that DON'T kill their wives? It takes a special class of scumbag to do that, and I doubt Amber's "charms" had much to do with it.

It is unseemly, certainly. That being said, should she not have come forward anyway? I know you doubt that, but her testimony did matter, and not just in the penalty phase...the prosecution believed That Man killed Laci and Connor because he wanted to be free to pursue Amber (whom he had no business pursing!).
Good story, the end part is a little sad though. But I get your point, something tells me that the people whom set you and your wife up were sort of the "busybody" types when they first decided to set you two up.
What ever happened to folks who did their civic duty to come forward tell the police of what they know, testify if the prosecution asks you to and then you go back to your life, cherishing being part of the best justice system in the world.
I think we will have to agree to disagree. Thank you for your wonderful opinions!
Yes, I suppose we will have to disagree. We have a totally different take on what the evidence was. :)
I do want to clarify something, though. I never meant to imply that she should have come forward strictly for the money. Whether or not she did is a question only she can answer, but I don't believe that she did.
Been nice talking to you!
Have you seen the show? The bimbo's most definitely not what you said.
And the rest of us spectators certainly enjoyed the chick-fight!
This is one of the fabulous parts of Free Republic you can exchange thoughts with for the most part like minded folks. If we all agreed all the time it would be a very boring world.
I have just gotten tired of our justice system in the years after OJ. The idea that there are folks that seem to think that it is their right to profit from their time serving as a juror bugs me. We are a country of the all mighty buck.
When they passed the law years ago that disallowed those who were convicted of crimes to be unable to profit from their crimes was a terrific law, but, it has been over turned. Who knows maybe others will find it *moraly* wrong.
Just the opinion of chick in the heartland.
LOL...it wasn't a fight. We were perfectly civil, thank you. :)

Holy cow, I missed that one. I didn't know they did that. So that means That Man can make a buck off of what he did now? Oh man that makes me ill.

You're right about that, for sure! LOL If FR degenerated into a mutual admiration society, I'd demand my money back, lol.
Hey, here's something shocking. News Corp. owns Harper Collins which owns Regan books, Ms. Frey's publisher. Seems Sean was pimping her book to boost sales.
Did he acknowledge the fact that he was using his news analysis show as an infomercial? The other folks on Fox are pretty good about mentioning it when their stories involve other divisions of the company but I've never heard Sean mention it. Yet another reason I don't respect him.
You're right. Sleeping with Scott on the first date was evidence of her high moral rectitude, as letting him pick up her daughter after school was a sign of her excellent judgment.
Gee, thanks for making all Californias sound like sluts and wife killers. I really appreciate it. Perhaps you can post another comment that insults us even more, I know I get a kick out of being called names and saying that my daugher is taught to be a slut in school and what the normal behavior of people in this state is. I am glad I have someone like you to let me know just how f**ed up we are out here in the west. Thanks again.
