Visiting with U.S. troops in Baghdad on Thursday, failed presidential candidate John Kerry trashed Commander-in-chief George Bush for making "horrendous judgments" and "unbelievable blunders" that have undermined the war effort.
In a series of demoralizing comments first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the defeated Democrat griped, "What is sad about what's happening here now is that so much of it is a process of catching up from the enormous miscalculations and wrong judgments made in the beginning."
Kerry said that because of the Bush administration's mistakes, "the job has been made enormously harder."
Among the errors cited by the disgruntled Democrat: the decision by former U.S. occupation leader Paul Bremer's to disband the Iraqi army and purge the government of former members of Hussein's Baath Party.
Both moves were have fueled the Sunni insurgency, he claimed, lamenting, "Mistakes have been made."
Then, perhaps sensing he'd gone too far, the 2008 White House hopeful cut short the Bush-bashing, saying, "Now, it's a different time and different set of judgments that have to be made. I'm here to make judgments about what moves are available to us."

VVAW supported demonstration, Washington Spring Offensive, April - May 1971
Kerry was a supporter of the "People's Peace Treaty," a supposed "people's" declaration to end the war, reportedly drawn up in communist East Germany.
It included nine points, all of which were taken from Viet Cong peace proposals at the Paris peace talks as conditions for ending the war.
One of the provisions stated: "The Vietnamese pledge that as soon as the U.S. government publicly sets a date for total withdrawal [from Vietnam], they will enter discussion to secure the release of all American prisoners, including pilots captured while bombing North Vietnam."
In other words, Kerry and his VVAW advocated the communist line to withdraw all U.S. troops from Vietnam first and then negotiate with Hanoi over the release of prisoners. Had the nine points of the "People's Peace Treaty" favored by Kerry been accepted by American negotiators, the United States would have totally lost all leverage to get the communists to release any POWs captured during the war years.
Vice President Spiro T. Agnew said that Kerry, "who drew rave notices in the media for his eloquent testimony before Congress," was using material ghosted for him by a former Kennedy speech writer (Adam Walinsky).

Notice the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong flags.

1) Disbanding the Iraqi army was the right thing to do. A good number of those committing acts of Terrorism in Iraq are former members of the Ba'ath party and Ba'ath army stooges. If we were currently using Saddam's army instead of the ING I would doubt they would be so successful in combating the terrorists. Perhaps the mistake was not disbanding the army or dismissing the Ba'athist but letting these guys go home.
2) Studying post-war economies of Europe and you'll see pictures of people with wheelbarrows of paper money going to buy bread. We did not see pictures of this from Iraq (if it happened I'm sure we would know). The economy of Iraq needed stability especially after 12 years of economic discord. Using a currency rock solid around the world that would not be deflated by events in Iraq actually was the right choice. The dinar did not wildly deflate because it was not battered by the post-war situation. If the US dollar was not used there would be no value to the dinar, no wealth, and no means of conducting business.
3) Weenies?

I'm an Army Intel guy - 17 years worth. I am an Air Force Intel guy...22 years, 7 in Intel. You are mostly right in your assessment and I have been Joint Service for 5 years, former SSA. I've been on the ground at sea, just about everywhere. Sad to say most of my Air Force Intel brethren disappointed me. They have no clue about patrols, mine fields, ambushes, hot racks or sleeping in a non-air condition/heated tent for 120+ days. I do.
Please don't lump all Air Force Intel types in that group.
The guy I think Taylor is getting info from is REMF getting Intel from CNN international.

Nor can I - so enraged I am. The blood on his hands will only increase. And it didn't have to be.
Didn't someone from the State Dept have to approve this trip into a war zone?

"Please don't lump all Air Force Intel types in that group."
Point taken - it probably read like I was lumping all and casting a wide net, but I was just doing the usual "in general" thing, ya know? No offense to anyone in particular intended.
Thanks for your service!

Well, I think he is not demoralizing our troops cause I think they all know better than that. However what he is doing and saying on foreign soil to me encourages the enemy and if that isn't treason I don't know what is. Seems the Senator hasn't changed much from when he testified back in the 60's. He should hang his head in shame. Well, you got the "hang his head" right...

Put the jerk on a swiftboat and send him upriver in the Sunni Triangle. Let the a-hole actually earn a medal.

In the last picture in post 167 Kerry looks so arrogant. He looks as if he is actually looking down his nose a these brave men and women. They do not seem to be overjoyed to be in his company.

Nothing will comfort the enemy more. The man got 58,000,000 votes here in America and now he's over there BASHING the President. Nice move, John. I'm sure bin Laden and Zarquawi appreciate the props.
To: DarthVader
I'd rather see him charged with sedition, treason, aiding and abbetting the enemy in time of war.... etc!

"What's Ketchup Boy doing in Baghdad?"
Demoralizing the troops and giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
Note, that he is visiting, just before the Iraqi elections. His statement give encouragement to the terrorists, signaling, that the US may not have the will to continue to fight, if the terrorists keep killing a few Americans here and there.
Kerry and the liberals are keeping the terrorists hopes alive, that we will pull out and letting them take over.
Kerry should be tried for treason -- his treason during the Vietnam War is clear cut.
