Possible Questions for Alberto Gonzales [Media Barf Alert]
AP via Great Falls Tribune ^ | Jan 5, 2005 | Associated Press

Posted on 01/05/2005 5:49:51 PM PST by BigSkyFreeper

Some questions that Attorney General nominee Alberto Gonzales might face at his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing on Thursday:

---

Q: What was your involvement in President Bush's February 2002 decision to sign an order saying he has the authority to suspend compliance with the Geneva Convention and that prisoner of war status does not apply to al-Qaida or "unlawful combatants" from the Taliban?

Q: Was there pressure to come up with a legal justification to make that decision, and if there was, from whom?

Q: What was your involvement in the now-disavowed Justice Department memoranda that said cruel, inhumane and degrading acts may not be considered torture if they don't produce intense pain and suffering?

Q: Why has the White House and the Justice Department refused to turn over all the documents and memoranda dealing with the treatment and questioning of foreign terrorism suspects?

Q: What was your involvement with the White House decision to classify Jose Padilla as an enemy combatant and hold him without charges in a South Carolina military prison?

Q: Will you recuse yourself from the Justice Department investigation into who in the Bush administration disclosed the name of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame?

Q: What was your involvement in keeping then-Texas Gov. Bush from jury duty in a drunken driving case in Austin, which helped information on his drunken driving arrest remain concealed?

Q: Will you file briefs calling for a reversal of Roe v. Wade in abortion-related cases before the Supreme Court?

We have to rebel and respond severely to ANY - I repeat ANY - factious and always racist comment against Attorney General nominee Alberto Gonzales. There's no room for undeserving discussions, we have the majority in Senate and we must use it without any compromise. In these days, the European press is full of interviews of Demon-rats and translations of American liberal newspapers. It's not only a campaign against the President, it's again a war to Conservatism.

All this character asassination is concocted by NARAL and the abortionists to keep from having pro-life attorney general. That is the same reason they didn't like Ashcroft.

Also, this might prevent Gonzales from becoming a supreme court justice someday, too.

I still don't know if Gonzales has enough management experience to run a large department.

It's hard to believe just how hypocritical the left is. First they slam Condi for being a porch ni**r for Bush, and this from blacks and feminists who always whine there aren't enough of either up high. Now with hispanics. Good grief, where were they when Clinton was in charge? Oh yes, kissing his arse.

You may add Clarence Thomas to the long list. A new Tat-racist campaign is coming.

I got a Freep mail from someone insinuating that Gonzales was pro-choice and I was taken aback but didn't have ammo to refute.

Thanks for that post. Does anyone have something I can link to to enlighten this other fellow ?

Anybody??

Thanks!

My understanding is... to be provided the rights of a prisoner of war under the Geneva Convention, the captive must belong to a country (!) that has signed the Convention and adheres to it themselves.

These terrorist, scum, murderous thugs don't belong to a nation that has declared war on us AND they don't adhere to any rules - except their own. Ask Nick Berg, Daniel Pearl and the others who have suffered their treatment.

Therefore, IMHO - an eye for an eye... or
Off with their heads....
