NeoOffice/J is a fully-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and drawing programs) for Mac OS X. Based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, NeoOffice/J has integrated dozens of native Mac features and can import, edit, and exchange files with other popular office programs such as MicrosoftTM Office.
Released as free, open-source software under the GNU General Public License (GPL), NeoOffice/J is fully functional and stable enough for everyday use. The software is actively developed, so improvements and small updates are made available on a regular basis.
December 21, 2004: NeoOffice/J 1.1 Beta is released. With this release, NeoOffice/J now supports all features in OpenOffice.org 1.1.3 including mouse wheel and drag-and-drop support.

Doesn't OOo run on OSX?
I can't wait for the rumored $500 Imac (sans monitor) comes out.
I'm buying one!
OSX is great for fun -- it's a great OS with a great look and feel. Windows is great for application development. I have use for both.
Apple will become the #1 computer maker if this rumor is true. (Big deal, there are so many computer makers and the market is saturated).
*yawn*

NeoOffice, brought to you by the finest minds in Bangalore. :)
This is basically open office, but rewritten to interface directly with OSX
Ahh. OK. That makes sense. As I have no familiarity with OSX, I thought it ran X11.
When my mother bought a mac in 1997 (OS8), i nearly threw up because I knew I would have to support it. Having worked tech support for a year and a half on OS7 I knew Apples could get mighty Hinki. When OSX came out, I was impressed by the look and feel. And after my wife bought her power book and went a year without me having to so much as install software got my mother to move over to it..
When (read if) the 500$ mac comes out I plan to make the switch myself, Right now I run a Linux server (CentOS) and a windows XP box, Ill let you guess which one is going ;).
For one of the Mac Fans in my life..
>>When (read if) the 500$ mac comes out I plan to make the switch myself,
I think Dell, Compaq/hP, and Microsoft will be shocked at the demand for the new apple.
There's a whole base of Ipod users out there, and if this machine is designed and marketed just right, it will be a home run.
I myself am going to buy one simply because I love the way OSX looks and feels. (Even Office on OSX looks better than Office on Windows. )
If garage band is included, I'll be a happy camper.
Annnnnddd, if apple has any vision... NeXT year at Christmas they'll release a machine which is an IMAC/IPOD convergance -- they will take the home pc market by storm.
Wishful thinking? Prolly.. but look what Ipod did, at outrageous prices I may add ($240 for a mini ipod? Please, it's $50 in parts, if that).
I just purchased an I mac with my kids inheritance ...is it sleek !
You are so right ! I wish I had mac stock, I Pod has introduced a lot of people to the apple stores. As I walked through one 2 times since Christmas the I Pod folks were playing with the power books and new G5 I macs.
This is a new hip generation that will love macs .... and after a time, not even mind spending their inheritance on one of the up scale ones ..
X11 is an optional component in the Mac OS X installation. Most users don't need it, but it is available.
(More info about the Unix foundation of Mac OS X is available here.)
Apparently, this new product uses the Mac OS X Aqua window environment instead, so X11 should not be required.
