A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.3.05

President and Mrs. Bush, former Presidents Bush and Clinton visited the embassies of the nations hardest hit by the Asian quake and tsunami: Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. He asked both (interestingly, Carter didn't make the list) to lead a nationwide charitable fund-raising effort for victims of the Asian tsunamis, through private contributions, non-governmental and international organizations. The White House's Freedom Corps, which helps facilitate volunteer efforts around the country, will assist the two former presidents in soliciting private contributions.

The president hosted a reception for new members elected to Congress and their spouses in the East Room; the swearing-in is tomorrow.

Alert: today's thread is laced with photos of The Impeached One. Other than that, enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

Thanks for your prayers. I worry about the guys out there--it's easy to slip and fall when it's so slick, and mr.h has a bad knee anyway.

It was great--you could see how Clinton was just itching to have his say . . .

[Clinton] reminds me of an uncle that everyone is ashamed of because he comes to the reunions smashed and talking trash, but when the uncle wins the lottery he becomes the favorite of the family. They tolerate him because he's the cash cow.

What a perfect description.

Does anyone really thrive around bubba?

Now that you mention it ... I can't think of anyone!

How do you make your crab salad?

Keep warm-someone said today that it will be -25 windchill by Thurs. We had a pretty mild winter last year so I guess we're making up for it. We need the moisture.

Fungus and bacteria thrive around him.

Clean living, a loving family and a REAL wife, OldFriend.

Debauchery catches up with you in the end..........and sometimes well before that.

**I was just noting that GHW looks as good at 80 as the debauched one looks at 58 or whatever..... Still a strikingly handsome man for an octogenarian, IMO.**

My feelings as well, by the way did Judy ever come back with more detailed description of photo she wanted? I have several of GWB in a long coat.

Do you think 41 looks better than bubba despite their age difference? I do.

Wish I knew who all those 'retreads' were in their former lives.

They're all as phony as 3 dollar bills, IMO, with their 'I'm new here and don't know how this works' garbage.

***For the first time in years and years his ability to abuse power is cut off, AND he's got to deal with hillary without being on a mission to grab more power for himself. I think he's got a lot of time on his hands to think. ***

Well said, Gretchen. People don't think their past will ever catch up with them, but it always does. And I think it's toughest for people who were in power and took advantage of that power, because when they lose it they're just devastated by it and don't know where to go or what to do.

Hi mrs. t. I'm listening on amazon.com to samples of the cuts on various Christian CD's to decide which ones to get -- I get to choose seven. It's HARD to decide! I appreciate your input on that one. There are some great-sounding tracks on that CD.

WOW, you're a busy person! Do you watch all those shows on HGTV on how to sell your home? We're very lucky in that my Father-in-law is buying our house. I knew he would--it's the house he grew up in and he has to be too much in control to let anyone else 'have' it. But for once his need to be in control is an advantage for us!

Safe trip to your hubby! How long will he be gone? I bet you'll miss him.

Yes, I think he does. His skin looks healthier, and even his eyes are less baggy.

I don't think the heart surgery is the cause of the debauched one's appearance. I think his evil living is catching up with him.
