Members of PETA said there's something fishy going on in Albany.
A group from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were protesting outside Bob and Ron's Fish Fry on Central Avenue Thursday.
It's all part of their Fish Empathy Project, which spreads the word about research they said shows fish are just as intelligent as cats and dogs.
PETA feels places like Bob and Ron's supports what they said are horrible practices of commercial fishing and fish farms.
As part of PETA's Fish Empathy Project, members rallied outside Bob and Ron's Fish Fry in Albany on Thursday.
Karin Robertson of PETA said, "Eating fish is supporting such abysmal cruelty to animals. If other animals were subjected to the same type of torture that fish are subjected to before they're eaten, people would be in jail for felony cruelty to animals charges."
PETA wants people to think of fish as "friends, not food" and to care for them like you would a cat or dog.
"I have a few slogans for the good folks at peta.
Save a fish, eat a shark.
Save a fish, beat a seal."
Uh - shouldn't that be "skin a seal"?
"Silvery Minnow... it's what's for dinner."
And tomorrow's repast will be "Shiny Minnow" in a clear sweet & sour sauce. One mustn't detract from the delicious rarity of that endangered shine, after all. ;-)
That bad(?) guy, Jesus, was so cruel(?) to the creatures he created, feeding fish to 5000 men + their women and children at one time. And His Father too, killing animals to make clothes for Adam & Eve as he cast them from the garden. Same guy telling Moses how precisely to slaughter animals for sacrifice. The examples of God exploiting animals are numerous. God is bad?
Not a hard choice for me; God or PETA?
"As for me and my household..."
"We like to say catch and fillet down here."
A guide in Everglades City has one you will like. He uses "follet and release".
He also throws all his fish back. "In the back of the boat", I believe is how he says it.
I don't believe these people would like to see what we do with gar after we gig them...
Let's just say that we make sure they're not alive, or at least will never eat another blue gil, before we shake them off the spears.
Yes!! freepers should go to this Fish Resturant today!!!
take someone there for lunch and go back later for Dinner!!!! then Rave about the place for weeks to co-Workers.
Buy a Fishing license, and Go Fishing with a Friend.
Start a Fishing Club. Buy Fish for dinner tomorrow.
Give a prise for the most fish caught in a Tournament!
Screw these Animal rights trash. They are Human Idiots.
There was a good Bumper sticker that said, "Save the Whales...untill we get more Tartar Sauce!"
"Finding Nemo" could have been a MM Documentary.
Make that "fillet", not "follet". My bad - sorry.
OMG! LOL!!
I wonder how they feel about Lobster ?
Boiling alive does not seem humane.
Oh I forgot, most of their benefactors eat a lot of lobster.
Nevermind.
What a great photo. I have read that squirrels will eat birds and eggs, but I have never seen this.
Couldn't help falling in love with her...
She was such a beautiful sucker...
Her fishy smell was mind boggling...
Hence I ate her... for dinner !!! ;-))
