May I vent for just a second? This morning, about 6 AM I was getting ready for work, pulling on my shoes and thinking about going for doughnuts, as I have been good all through the Christmas season diet wise, when I made the mistake of turning on the tv.
The blow dried network babe, Brooke Hart, of whom I have never heard, began to list the contributions of different countries. She then spouted this gem. "The United States pledged 35 million in aid, a figure that is what the nation spends in SIX HOURS in Iraq."
About three or four paragraphs later, apparently as an aside, and as if one didn't have anything to do with the other, she just happened to mention the ships that make 90 thousand gallons of water a day and the plane loads of food, medical supplies and other needed supplies.
I'm sorry...it just pissed me off folks.. Anyone know where I could write to complain about this crap?
You could call the network, but I don't know that it would as much good as contacting your local affiliate and the show's advertisers. BTW, was this the chick from the BBC who was on with Howard Fineman?

Brooke Hart
Brooke Hart is a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for NBC NewsChannel, NBC's affiliate news service.
Her live reports from the nation's capital appear daily on NBC 17 News and on many other NBC stations across the country. Prior to her assignment in Washington, Brooke anchored NBC 17 News at 5 with Art Edwards. Brooke also covered success stories in Triangle area schools in her "Class Act" reports.
Before coming to Raleigh in June 1996, Brooke was an anchor and reporter for KTXS-12 in Abilene, Texas.
Brooke began her career in her home state of California, as an anchor and reporter for KAEF-TV in Eureka. Her first work in journalism included internships at MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour, CNN, and National Public Radio.
Brooke graduated with honors from Stanford University. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C., where was a paralegal in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She worked as the government's paralegal in the federal criminal civil rights prosecution of the LAPD officers who beat Rodney King.
Send e-mail to Brooke Hart.
Don't watch that trash man
"She worked as the government's paralegal in the federal criminal civil rights prosecution of the LAPD officers who beat Rodney King."
Well...that's about all I need to know about her.
It would not matter if we gave them everything we had. They do not care. We are evil and that is that.
Don't let it ruin your day.
Yeah, I saw it too. Fineman was also a piece of work spouting about how it was so important for GWB to address the crisis immediately and that the amount being pledged was less important to the people affected. WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!!
Sorry!!! But it's all about the money when the people left alive have nothing!!! DUH!! Stupid moron!!
I misunderstood. This was on your local affiliate?!
Who was the wench from the Beeb, do you recall?
I don't think she meant anything by what she said. I have been convinced for a very long time that these 'talking heads' are utterly clueless about language as you and I comprehend language. They act out and regurgitate anything that is shoved under their noses and have no idea what they are talking about. The proof of this assertion on my part is that they often, (the frequency of this says as much as anything) mispronounce words or otherwise misspeak in a way that vividly demonstrates that they are all but functional illiterates. You can tell from listening and watching them stumble over words and negotiate around concepts that they are seeing and hearing these things for the first time in their lives. They have no frame of reference for the facts and NO familiarity with even the most basic information. It is obvious that they are not readers and never were. I am certain that they are hired for their appearance and have nothing like academic rigor to back up one single thing that comes out of their mouths. For them, if they have heard of a thing, they understand it. For the rest of the world, if we have heard of a thing-we research the thing till we understand it.
"Don't watch that trash man"
I know..I know... but I was planning on doing something outside today after work, and wanted an idea of what the weather was going to be.
It's a shame we have to be exposed to those horse droppings.
The local affiliate runs news from 5 am to seven. From time to time they stick in national news clips for fillers. It is the charleston wv NBC affiliate.
I saw the "Today" show segment with Howard Fineman. The BBC correspondent was Katty Kay. Love the name.
I heard a similiar statement last night on MSNBC...I switched the channel as quickly as a surfer could.
Made me real angry.
So far I'm 3 for 3 on the tsunami disaster: (1) it was caused or made worse by global warming which is Bush's fault (2) Bush is insensitive because he worked behind the scenes to rush aid to the affected region instead of crying a river on worldwide TV a la European and UN leaders, and (3) the US should divert all spending on defense to UN aid programs.
Hart's background says it all. Liberal fanatic. Needs her mind and mouth washed out with soap.
I don't watch Today, even when I AM home.
It's either Fox and Friends or just listening to classical music on the radio.

Wow. Call your local affiliate. And call its advertisers. This is unpardonable.
