All I wanted was to hear what the days weather was going to be, so I turned on the local pre-Today show newscast. I wasn't really paying attention to it until they stuck in a network feed from NBC on the subject of the Tsunami relief.

The blow dried network babe, Brooke Hart, of whom I have never heard, began to list the contributions of different countries. She then spouted this gem. "The United States pledged 35 million in aid, a figure that is what the nation spends in SIX HOURS in Iraq."

About three or four paragraphs later, apparently as an aside, and as if one didn't have anything to do with the other, she just happened to mention the ships that make 90 thousand gallons of water a day and the plane loads of food, medical supplies and other needed supplies.

I'm sorry...it just pissed me off folks.. Anyone know where I could write to complain about this crap?

You could call the network, but I don't know that it would as much good as contacting your local affiliate and the show's advertisers. BTW, was this the chick from the BBC who was on with Howard Fineman?

It would not matter if we gave them everything we had. They do not care. We are evil and that is that.

Don't let it ruin your day.

I was upset yesterday on CNN when they interviewed one of the local victims and he was complaining about the United States - He was saying "Where is the United States - they need to help us and give us money"
Now I'm sure he is in shock an devastated but it really upset me because no matter what we do, we are perceived as bad!

I don't think she meant anything by what she said. I have been convinced for a very long time that these 'talking heads' are utterly clueless about language as you and I comprehend language. They act out and regurgitate anything that is shoved under their noses and have no idea what they are talking about. The proof of this assertion on my part is that they often, (the frequency of this says as much as anything) mispronounce words or otherwise misspeak in a way that vividly demonstrates that they are all but functional illiterates. You can tell from listening and watching them stumble over words and negotiate around concepts that they are seeing and hearing these things for the first time in their lives. They have no frame of reference for the facts and NO familiarity with even the most basic information. It is obvious that they are not readers and never were. I am certain that they are hired for their appearance and have nothing like academic rigor to back up one single thing that comes out of their mouths. For them, if they have heard of a thing, they understand it. For the rest of the world, if we have heard of a thing-we research the thing till we understand it.

I tuned in a :15 after the hour and was treated to some bleeding heart story about a couple who had to spend 28 hours on a NW airline plane. I missed the first part so don't know the particulars but given all the tsunami horror I would have been embarrassed to go on TV and complain and Today should be too.

I heard this same crap on the radio early this morning as part of a national news broadcast. Except I think they said it was four hours. My blood boiled.

NBC = CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc. Can't believe most of the garbage they spew. Anytime they can make American look bad, they do. Guess they have forgotten "United We Stand, Divided We Fall".

Go out an have a wonderful day and just let her stupid comments roll off your back. Happy New Year!

1. I doubt this. They never source these "figures" unless it's sourced from some amorphous "study".

2.If this is pretty much a verbatim quote, the syntax if awful and I've heard enough awful syntax from the talking heads.

We watch her every morning. We do it just to see how she will corrupt the days news stories into something either anti-Bush, or anti-America.

She easily does it 75% of the time. Over the holidays she was off and another lady did the morning report and did it in much less antagonistic fashion. Just the slight change made it all the more obvious how Hart twists almost every story.

The networks have been very quick to link the amount of aid dollars spent in the disaster to the amount of monies spent on the war.

Anything to keep pumping that anti-American bias wherever possible.

Don't feel bad. I always watch Fox but decided to flip around to see if there was any different coverage of the Tsunami on other networks. I stopped on MSNBC for a second, which was long enough to hear one of their American reporters reporting on a story in Iraq. Of course he referred to it as the 'American Occupation'. Rotten SOB. That will be the one and only second of my time MSNBC will get.

Just as an aside, CNN just "reported" that for budget reasons we might not build an aircraft carrier and stop "battleship construction". Guess what? We haven't build a battleship since WWII.

CNN needs to get some real men writing their articles.
I can just see the writers, "don't you mean battlethip?".

Got a link to a picture of her. I read the profile but couldn't figure out who she is by looking at their home page.

I really think you should email her and the station manager. She may JUST be a text reader but if she gets enough complaints she'll have words with the writers.

On the day after the disaster a left-wing idiot on PRI (Public Radio International apparently a NPR clone) said the event was attracting major Western attention because of the presence of Western tourists at the resorts.

Your tax dollars at work?

It could be worse....I live in the Houston, Texas area and there is only one newspaper...The Houston Comical....

They just can't understand why their circulation is 545,000 in an area of more than 5 million people.....

A good manager would flush the managers of this outfit as effectively as a pre-federally-regulated commode.....
