As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.
The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
Just found this on the web it appears that George Bush is left handed.
****
Famous left-handers:
Sweet dreams I will be turning in soon too.
"Maybe he was made to write with his right hand but naturally writes with left but for photos writes with the right"
That is interesting isn't it! I'm going to see if I can "catch" him in any other pictures using his left hand. Heck I have enough problems using one hand let alone both.
I Hope you, and all Daily Dosers, are Enjoying this New Year's Day!
Thanks for the info of course the info I got from the web just said George Bush but not which one which of course confused us even further.
I've Seen your Posts while Lurking late at Night, and I'll Continue to Pray Daily for your Dad, dear Snugs, until he is Totally Well.
Thank you for your prayers these are very much appreciated
You're Most Welcome, my sweet FRiend.
Time for me to turn in now or I will not want to get up tomorrow and before I visit dad at the hospital I want to cook a lamb and rabbit casserole, so that I can freeze it in portions and all I have to do when I get back from the hospital in the evening is nuke it in the microwave so at least I am getting semi fresh home cooking.
God Bless you all and God Bless America.

The photo might have been reversed in error. Time mag has a photo of him scribbling down some notes about the hurricane in FL, and he is writing right handed. The writing is not reversed, so that has to be accurate. Maybe ambidextrous?
We have discovered from Kitty Mittens that it is GHWB that is left handed not the current President Bush apparently Kitty's photo on her about page is not clear which Bush it is.
Post 404 from Kitty explains this.
Happy New Year
Sometimes, photos get reversed.
George H. W. Bush, President # 41 - Dubya's Dad is left-handed.
George W. Bush, President # 43 - is right-handed.
Saw a discussion of this recently - and didn't remember that Poppy was left-handed. Its something I usually notice since I'm ambidextrous but prefer to write and eat with my right hand, play racquet sports with my right hand, but do almost everything else with left hand!
My oldest child, daughter, was ambidextrous until she broke her right arm in the first grade. From then on she was left handed. My second oldest, son, is left handed although he plays ball with his right. Younger children are all right handed. My aunt on my father's side is the only one in the family I know of who was left handed.
No one in the hospital should be subjected to someone in the room using a phone all day! A complaint should be made.
Guess in my dotage my tongue has been loosened. My dermatologist's office is bad about people talking loudly on cell phones.
While on the subject of noise, I no longer go to the mall because loud, so called, music is blasting from everywhere. Even Norstroms, who formally had a LIVE piano player, was doing the same. I exit the Giant and Safeway as fast as possible for the same reason. Giant even has it blaring outside! Anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for the piece on "Phantom" which I plan to see soon.
Recently saw "Finding Neverland" and "Beyond the Sea". The latter with Kevin Spacey is great for anyone old enough to be a Bobby Darin fan. My foot couldn't stop tapping.
Thanks,Gretchen, for the scripture quote and the reminder to me tha I should not dwell on this person questionong my relation with God.
