As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.
The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
LOL....I'll be babysitting my VERY spoiled 3yo grandson...trade ya?
Yes, hard to say whether the ceiling is actually that low, or it's an effect of the fact that there is no light bouncing off the ceiling. At any rate, rooms with no windows give me the creeps.
Well, we know that must all be a lie because everybody knows that W cannot think or operate a telephone or do anything unless he is physically planted in the Oval Office.
snugs, is your dad in the hospital? If so, I'm very sorry to hear that.
Just heard on Rossi that he is calling for a re-vote do you think this is likely seeing as I thought the results was due to be certified tomorrow?
What was hubby's response to your gift concerning his new office?
Was Jon home? If he's still there wish him the best from us.
I've been keeping up with Tammy's website - she's improving steadily - it's so heartening!
Yes he has an urinary track infection which has left him very dizzy and he actually fell in the bathroom yesterday so got taken to hospital. A little more steady on his feet today but cannot stand as yet unaided due to the infection all other responses normal in his nerves etc so it is just the infection. Very high tempreture as well plus he really does not cope well with hospital life so very stressful. Fortunately he does has telephone facilities at his bed (expensive something like min 50 pence per min) but at least he can ring someone to just say hello. TV is expensive as well though because he is over 65 he gets it half price but still 10.00 pounds sterling for 6 days. Food is awful no longer done by hospital staff but has been outsourced to a catering company and the standard is dreadful. Then to cap it all we got a blocked toilet at home due to drain being blocked.
Expense everywhere
I don't know - all I've heard him spew for the last 4 years is "impeach Bush" - who else but Hillary Clinton would put him up to that.
Besides, Conyers and Rangel have also joined in that fray .. until it became obvious impeachment was out of the question.
It looks like the insideof a trailer to me. Or mabe a double-wide.
Jon was home on the 24th and 25th...he had duty on the 26th....that's where all my cookies ended up....the MP guardhouse....LOL
Hi snugs,
Rossi just held a press conference which I actually did get to see.
He asked Gregoire to join him in asking our legislature to authorize a revote because the count and recounts are shrouded in suspicion. A revote could be done speedily, he said, once the legislature is called into special session and authorizes it.
He intimated that if she doesn't, he'll contest the results. He said this would delay the outcome for months.
Seems to me he picked the most reasonable course -- politely ask for a revote knowing that if she refuses, he'll contest the results, opening up the whole King County fraud machine to intense scrutiny.
As someone wrote on the FR Washington State message board:
"My bride's take on this is that Rossi set them up. Gregoire and the KC Elections are between a rock and a hard place. She can either agree to the revote or the King County Election's office is going to have all of its fraud and corruption exposed.
"Who will win the argument... [King County Democrat and election official] Logan trying to cover his rear or Gregoire taking the chance that Rossi won't find enough to get a revote? Will the Seattle Media continue to shield them?
"We think his subtle challenge to Gregoire and KC Elections was outstanding. He ended with the confidence of one who knows what they are hiding. Him stating that we know we have to have enough to convince the Legislature and or the State Supreme Court was from a person that knows there is."
Months and months of re-hab...she is doing great, considering everything she's been through...she will eventually be moved to a VA/military hospital closer to home, Chicago.
Those MP's and their sweet teeth . . . . .so funny.
Give him our best (and Mike, too!).
I doubt it is a trailer. I do know he has a secure conference room at the ranch.
Somehow it seems odd that they would put it in a trailer. It's most likely not in his home though.
Well, mabe it's a secure trailer? LOLOLOL
Re the certification, yes, our Secretary of State is set to certify the recount results tomorrow. That has to happen before the results can be contested. Right now it's just a pro forma thing because everyone knows it is simply certifying fraud, but the Secretary of State doesn't have authority in law to fix the problem. It would be more than a pro forma thing if Rossi didn't find a way to get a new vote, or if he didn't contest this certification, however: it would result in Gregoire being our governor.
