Are they going to write him out of Law And Order? He's been around practically forever so this comes as something of a shock. Jerry Orbach WAS the quintessential New Yorker. He lived his entire life in the city.

Oh, my.
Orbach was certainly the best-loved character in the original Law and Order TV series. He was also famous for his voice acting role as Lumiere in the animated feature Beauty and the Beast.
He will be sorely missed.
