The Vatican newspaper has denounced what it called a decision by the IDF to deny emergency help to disaster victims in Sri Lanka.
Calling for "a radical and dramatic change of perspective" among people "too often preoccupied with making war," L'Osservatore Romano singled out Israeli military leaders for declining a request for emergency medical help.
Contrary to the Vatican report, an Israeli plane carrying 80 tons of food and medical supplies worth $100,000 was set to depart for Sri Lanka Wednesday morning. At the request of the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry, a team of some 150 Israeli medical and security personnel aborted their planned trip to the island nation Tuesday night.
The Vatican paper observed that in what "should be a time for unconditional solidarity," some world leaders seem incapable of escaping a "small-minded approach that restricts their horizons."
The fact that the devastation swept across different societies, cultures, and nations should help to reinforce the universal perspective, the paper suggested. (Jerusalem Post staff and agencies)
I deplore Catholic-bashing as much as I deplore Israel-bashing.
Certainly you aren't including everyone here in that broadbrush assessment, are you?
FUNDAMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE HOLY SEE AND THE STATE OF ISRAEL
December 30, 1993
1.1 The State of Israel, recalling its Declaration of Independence, affirms its continuing commitment to uphold and observe the human right to freedom of religion and conscience, as set forth In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in other international instruments to which it is a party.
2.1 The Holy See takes this occasion to reiterate its condemnation of hatred, persecution and all other manifestations of antisemitism directed against the Jewish people and individual Jews anywhere, at any time and by anyone. In particular, the Holy See deplores attacks on Jews and desecration of Jewish synagogues and cemeteries, acts which offend the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, especially when they occur in the same places which witnessed it.
3.1 The Holy See and the State of Israel recognize that both are free in the exercise of their respective rights and powers, and commit themselves to respect this principle in their mutual relations and in their cooperation for the good of the people.
3.2 The State of Israel recognizes the right of the Catholic Church to carry out its religious, moral, educational and charitable functions, and to have its own institutions, and to train, appoint and deploy its own personnel in the said institutions or for the said functions to these ends. The Church recognizes the right of the State to carry out its functions, such as promoting and protecting the welfare and the safety of the people. Both the State and the Church recognize the need for dialogue and cooperation in such matters as by their nature call for it.
4.1 The State of Israel affirms its continuing commitment to maintain and respect the 'Status quo' in the Christian Holy Places to which it applies and the respective rights of the Christian communities thereunder. The Holy See affirms the Catholic Church's continuing commitment to respect the aforementioned 'Status quo' and the said rights.
4.2 The above shall apply notwithstanding an interpretation to the contrary of any Article in this Fundamental Agreement.
4.3 The State of Israel agrees with the Holy See on the obligation of continuing respect for and protection of the character proper to Catholic sacred places, such as churches, monasteries, convents, cemeteries and their like.
4.4 The State of Israel agrees with the Holy See on the continuing guarantee of the freedom of Catholic worship.
Good point. If it's not charity, it's giving at the point of a gun or guilt and that's too much like taxation, imo.
Answer your own question. Google up < catholic relief services sri lanka >
the Vatican should stick to religion sibce they sound so stupid, and where is the aid from them??they have untold billions..everyone is a hypocrate when it comes to the US and Israel

Hating Israel is a bad idea to start with as those that do will learn the hard way someday.
And it is unwise for those who use that hatefulness to spitefully deny others freely offered life sustaining assistance.
Is it perhaps possible that you are an agent of Communist China?
Israel and America are linked for this reason:
You do nothing to help the rest of world and they blame you.
You do more than anyone else in the world to help everyone out, and they either still blame you or claim you are not doing enough.
Well, you ain't been raptured yet; are you holding your breath? LMAO - @U
With any luck the idiots will stay away from it. Perhaps all the sane people should simply abandon this one to the trolls.
Thanks for the link.
Oh, but we have most of it:

And that is refuted in this very article at the top of this thread.
BTW, I challenge you to post ANY reply I've ever made bashing Catholics, since you have now claimed that I am a regular Catholic basher.
We'll all wait while you find one.
Good plan....
No, that's an outright lie and I think you know it, but prefer to pursue a different agenda.
Sri Lanka didn't want Israeli medical personel, yes, who are in the IDF, in their country. They're happy to take humanitarian aid, and Israel is happy to send it.
MDA SENDS MEDICINES TO SRI LANKA
(Communicated by the Magen David Adom Spokesman) Wednesday, 29 December, 2004
Magen David Adom, in coordination with the International Red Cross, at midnight last night, dispatched - on an El Al flight - a shipment of medicines to Sri Lanka in order to aid trauma victims. The shipment contained 4,080 bottles of serum albumin (a protein produced from blood plasma for use in treating trauma victims, and patients suffering from malnourishment and liver disease), worth over $100,000. The shipment will be distributed among hospitals in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
An old, very involved story. Older than the present text of the bible, in fact, which was decided on only after centuries of that fight.
$500k
wow--that's a little more than what France is chipping in. Reminds me of Thanksgiving dinner, where the guest who brought some store bought cookies whines about the turkey being dry.
Vatican poltics are divided just like the US Senate. The MSM take every opportunity to use quotes from any pencil pushing priest or a bishop that "works" at the Vatican to mean that their comments seem to be the very thoughts of the Pope. It is not so. Please research Pope John Paul II himself and see what friendships he's had as a young Pole. Please dig deeper than what the MSM wants you to believe.
No, B Knotts likely agrees that warmongering Israel refused to send aid unless it can send troops, and likely repeats it to his friends. He just doesn't like seeing people bashed for repeating the libel.
This is VERY petty.
