Recipe for a Happy New Year

To leave the old with a burst of song
To recall the right and forgive the wrong;
To forget the thing that binds you fast
To the vain regrets of the year that's past;
To have the strength to let go your hold
Of the not worthwhile of the days grown old,
To dare to go forth with a purpose true,
To the unknown task of the year that's new;
To help your brother along the road
To do his work and lift his load;
To add your gift to the world's good cheer,
Is to have and to give a Happy New Year.

On this Day in History
1170 Thomas Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury was assassinated by knights of King Henry II; Beckett and the King had been engaged in a conflict over the rights and privileges of the Church

On this Day in History

1845 Texas was admitted to the Union as the 28th state

On this Day in History
1848 The Polk administration installed gas lights, the first light fixtures at the White House

Don't forget the syrup!

Apart from the quiet and shy part the apple tree definition is pretty close.

Oh, right, that's nothing like you! You're not very strong minded or self willed at all. < /sarcasm >

What do you mean it's not like you? Although, I must admit that you do like a good argument.

I have a blonde niece. She once pondered, "What if I'm retarded and no one's telling me?"

*chuckle*
I hate arguments among those I care about.
That tends to "feel like static arcing" to me.
(I know, that doesn't make sense the way a description goes.)
But at the moment that's all I could think of to describe the feeling.

That will do, however, I don't wear advertising unless I'm paid to do so.

Take note, LLBEENS.

Cedar Tree (Confidence) - of rare strength, knows how to adapt, likes unexpected presents, of good health, not in the least shy, tends to look down on others, self-confident, a great speaker, determined, often impatient, likes to impress others, has many talents, industrious, healthy optimism, waits for the one true love, able to make quick decisions.

Fits me to a T.

LOL!

Too many absolutes at the ends of these, like "never", that's a risky word to use when trying to impress people.

I wonder if Bruce Hansford still works at Wright Patt? (He edited the MVACE Newsletter before I took it over. I haven't been in touch with him since around 1990. Good guy!)

I take that back. I ran into Bruce when I was at Wright Patt. sometime between 1992-1994. I was there to set up a World Book display. (Now if only I could remember what he did there! He was a civilian employee, if I recall.)

At the time I was active in MVACE (1987ish-1990ish), there were a lot of active-duty AF in the club. I attended a few meetings after my husband passed away in 1989, but then I got ill in 1990 and after that, I didn't get out much and lost track of so many friends!
