Recipe for a Happy New Year
To leave the old with a burst of song To recall the right and forgive the wrong; To forget the thing that binds you fast To the vain regrets of the year that's past; To have the strength to let go your hold Of the not worthwhile of the days grown old, To dare to go forth with a purpose true, To the unknown task of the year that's new; To help your brother along the road To do his work and lift his load; To add your gift to the world's good cheer, Is to have and to give a Happy New Year.

My dimwitted neighbor also likes shooting guns on the neighboring farm.
I think we should require an IQ test, along with a background check, before issuing gun permits.

Do you really have a Beta? And if your answer is yes, do you have an 8-track lurking somewhere?
I noticed that Best Buy is selling turntables again, so there is always hope that you will be able to purchase Beta and other dinasaur-related things. ;)

Whenever I hear dimwit start with the gun, I take cover, because who knows where he is firing.
When I was going to school in Iowa, more than a couple people were killed by stray bullets from idiots celebrating holidays by randomly shooting in the air.

Maui, great beaches, wonderful sights of Lanai and Kahoolawe, great fishing. But $$$, but be wise and follow my tip.
Kauai, spectacular and quiet. Beaches you won't want to leave. Needs the money since the hurricane devastated it (Iniki) years ago. I've no info on Snowbird time shares there.
Snowbirds are mainlanders who own apts in Hawaii and come here part of the year. Rentals defray maintenance's costs and they're glad for it. Once you're here, lease a car, go where you please, shop the grocery and cook at home. Visit restaurants at your pleasure. Find a time share and you can visit other islands reasonably according to your budget.
The Big Island, Hawaii!
Hilo; limited apts but reasonable. Kona, same thing but more $. Not many beaches but we've volcanoes LIVE! We've got Rodeos, deep sea fishing and lots of Hawaiian time.
There's a great Hotel on Lanai. $$$$$$$$$$$$ Go to Maui.
Oahu/Honolulu
You'll land there. You'll be in the city. Oahu is very beautiful outside Honolulu but you'll probably wind up in Waikiki, in a hotel on a strip of vendors and shops, carted off to manufactured Polynesia.
Star, do not ever question my military service again. I've a long memory and am a forgiving soul but patience is not one of my virtues.
