Bin Laden marks voters as 'infidels'

BAGHDAD — A purported new message from Osama bin Laden yesterday condemned all Iraqis who cast ballots in upcoming elections as "infidels," and it endorsed Abu Musab Zarqawi, the terrorist leader who is attempting to halt the Jan. 30 vote.
Hours before portions of the audiotape aired on the Arabic television channel Al Jazeera, suicide terrorists bombed the Baghdad home of a top Shi'ite political leader, and Iraq's main Sunni political group said it would boycott the elections.

On Iraq's upcoming elections, it said:

"The constitution imposed by the American occupier Bremer is blasphemous ... and anyone who takes part in this election consciously and willingly is an infidel."

[snip]

U.S. officials worry about a lopsided election result in which pro-American Kurds and majority Shi'ites vote heavily, but Sunnis stay home.
In several published reports, American officials have floated the idea of guaranteeing Sunni Arabs a certain number of seats or ministerial posts to avoid the prospect of further alienating them.
But Iraqi officials have dismissed the proposal.

I'm not the least bit worried about it. Let them cut off their noses to spite their faces.

Just for the record I'd not be upset if the nutjobs who voted for people like Bill Clinton and John Kerry would boycott our elections, either. By all means, go ahead.

LOL!!!

I second Piasa's call for a boycott by the left in voting!

(Piasa, let's make an effort to try to remember this more towards elections 2008. Maybe we can do a campaign and some websites to elude the left into thinking they are supporting a boycott)

Lets see, Bin Laden says anyone who runs in an election, and those that vote for anyone are "infidels", But then he endorses Abu Musab Zarqawi. Does that not make Abu Musab Zarqawi an infidel, and all those who would vote for him infidels as well?
Since everyone would become "infidels" one way or another, Bin Laden has just stated that Islam is dead in Iraq. Glad to see him finally admit it! Islamic fundamentals will be dead in Iraq, one way or another. We will keep shooting them until there aren't any left if need be.

For the $50 million US reward, I'd prefer to bring him back alive. Someone is harboring him. Someone who has LOT$ of money. He ain't in some Chitral mountain hole, he's in a multi-millionaire's compound somewhere, sipping on a margarita.

That is what terrorists want, a reason to claim that the election was illegitimate and a cause for continued "insurgency." The Iraqi's show no sign of being able to handle their own security in the foreseeable future. Ongoing Sunni insurrection = longer, drawn out U.S. presence and possible eventual withdrawal and civil war, failed state, terrorist nation. George W. Bush won't be President forever.

Alienating Ba'athist/Al Qaeda killers? If I were an Iraq Shiite or Kurd, I would contemptuously reject the notion my killers have to be accomodated. On the contrary, they need to be excluded from the levers of power. American officials are dumb as rocks if they think affirmative action for those who hate them and are killing their troops will win them new found affection among the Sunnis. Au contraire. The majority of Iraq's population wants to vote in free elections and Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda have pronounced a death sentence upon them. Its high time we know who our friends are.

The State Department has a knack for rewarding America's enemies and spitting on our friends. Its time for a through house-cleaning in 2005 at Foggy Bottom.

sorry, couldn't resist, ol' Osama wouldn't happen to be in one of John Kerry's mansions would he? It makes perfect sense, first Osama comes out 2 days before the election to endorse JF'nK, and JF'nK doesn't need the reward money because he's got Teresa.
