Fox news is getting footage in now at six a.m. PST.

They claim deaths are in the 10'a of thousands.

Showed a graph of all the countries and tan to represent where tsunami waters traveled. Uh folks it looks like whole large parts of Countries had water coverarge.

Footage looks as though water was only feet deep sweeping over land. Not what one may imagine as a tidal wave.

More like swift running tides coming in then out taking everything in their path with them including people and sweeping back out to sea.

Very very big disaster.

I was just looking at the USGS world quake list and man the after shocks are at 6 on the avg.

Full moon today.

I remember there was a regular guest on the overnight Coast to Coast AM radio show that mentioned that one way to look for potential earthquake activity was to carefully examine the lunar tide cycle. It appears that the massive earthquake off the coast of Sumatra occurred just as the Moon reached its Full phase yesterday.

"They are part of Wycliff translators"

I love this ministry. When my husband and I were young we traveled from Iquitos Peru to Pucalpe, Peru on a river boat. When we got to Pucalpe, we were tired, starved, culture shocked... we knew that a friend's uncle was with Wycliff and we took a boat out to their compound and they fed us fried catfish and banana bread in a cottage which could have been in Kansas. But then we learned about their approach... to create a written langugage for the indigenous people so that they could read the Gospel of John. And then wait and if they wanted more, like technology, work with them where they are. My friend's uncle was a retired farmer who was there to help them make the transition from hunter/gatherer to primitive agriculture. He was supervising a breeding program for their cattle.

Take the 1994 Northridge earthquake, for example. There are people who absolutely swear the quake shook them around for at least one minute. Other people report a sharp jolt that woke them up, but only lasted for a few seconds. The seismometer records show local shaking for about 20 seconds.

And I has a cousin one mile from the epicenter who slept through it. In a top bunk.

The areas with larger tsunamis further inland probably wouldn't have much left to register a report.

The faster wave velocity is probably accompanied by a longer wavelength, so it wouldn't appear as a classical surfing wave, rather it would appear to be a giant swell that rose the average sea level by up to 30 ft.

Structures with walls would convey that massive momentum of the wave to the columns of the building, probably only designed for wind loads. It won;t take too much to simply move the structures and foundations if the soils are saturated.

Likewise, when the tide recedes, the same forces work in reverse, carrying whatever isn't anchored out to sea.

Moving to a roof top might seem more secure, but if 10 feet of water surge in then back out, it might actually be worse than going to a secure basement. Buildings aren't really designed for any protection from these events. Nearby hills are probably the best refuge.

"Time is running Very, Very Short."

This is very true. We should all be prepared.

No one was praying for disaster, but they were praying, when disasters happened, church's would be spared the devastation while mosques would not. Only to open the eyes of Islam's people that their God is a false God. Shalom

Interesting observation.

The earthquake in Bam Iran occurred on the same date a year ago.

Closest I came was a minor quake in San Diego several years ago. We were on the 4th floor of the Hilton at Mission Bay. My husband woke up before the quake started and jumped out of bed (he has animal instincts) and then the quake started, shook the bed and made the huge lamp in the courtyard start swaying. weird.

I did commonguymd. No one has prayed for casualties, only for the Moslem Mosques to be devastated. Big difference.

1) It's VERY clear you don't read OR understand my posts. You merely seize on this or that word and freak out--evidently from several relationships in your past.

2) If you are screaming because I dare to agree with Jesus that No man reaches Father God but through Him, scream away. I do believe that.

3) However, I ALSO BELIEVE God when HE SAYS--HE THAT SEEKS HIM, SHALL find Him. I believe that will turn out to be true regardless of the background etc. I don't know how God will do it--perhaps on death beds. And, I believe God will still introduce Jesus to such individuals--who will accept Him as their Lord and Savior.

4) It is your rebellion against Him that is your biggest problem.

5) You COULD be a LOT MORE HONEST about what I write and mean. But then you aren't really interested in that. You just want to scream at someone who believes differently than you do. Sounds like pretty significant double-think, to me.

You demonstrate again that you haven't a clue what I was saying about authentic.

I was talking about authentic Christians vs inauthentic Christians.

But yes, I do believe that Jesus is the Only way to God. Your argument is with Him on that score. He was either who He said He was, or He was an idiot.

Mind you, the earthquake in Bam, Iran was particularly horrible because most of the buildings there were more or less adobe huts, which will collapse very quickly in any large earthquake.

Prayers go out to all those people there.

But since there seems to have been a recent upsurge in threads (and news reportage) on the topic, so I couldn't resist posting a few of them here.

Good post, thanks,..

The recent events also manifest how a third of the world's ships might be destroyed.
