Actually, that's a significant part of what I said.

Guess I'm not tooooo surprised you chose to fail to understand my English.

Well, let's see if it is.

Do you believe that people need to believe that Jesus is G-d and or The Messiah?

If you are talking about an "intensity" scale, then the most common one is use is the Modern Mercalli Scale. It is a measurmeent of the relative damage caused by the shaking of the quake.

Geologists differentiate "intensity" from "magnitude" (which is a direct measurment).

[From the USGS website:]

Magnitude

Seismologists indicate the size of an earthquake in units of magnitude. There are many different ways that magnitude is measured from seismograms because each method only works over a limited range of magnitudes and with different types of seismometers. Some methods are based on body waves (which travel deep within the structure of the earth), some based on surface waves (which primarily travel along the uppermost layers of the earth), and some based on completely different methodologies. However, all of the methods are designed to agree well over the range of magnitudes where they are reliable.

Earthquake magnitude is a logarithmic measure of earthquake size. In simple terms, this means that at the same distance from the earthquake, the shaking will be 10 times as large during a magnitude 5 earthquake as during a magnitude 4 earthquake. The total amount of energy released by the earthquake, however, goes up by a factor of 32.

Magnitudes commonly used by seismic networks include:

Magnitude type, Applicable magnitude range, Distance range, Comments

Duration (Md) <4 0-400 km Based on the duration of shaking as measured by the time decay of the amplitude of the seismogram. Often used to compute magnitude from seismograms with "clipped" waveforms due to limited dynamic recording range of analog instrumentation, which makes it impossible to measure peak amplitudes.

Local (ML) 2-6 0-400 km The original magnitude relationship defined by Richter and Gutenberg for local earthquakes in 1935. It is based on the maximum amplitude of a seismogram recorded on a Wood-Anderson torsion seismograph. Although these instruments are no longer widely in use, ML values are calculated using modern instrumentation with appropriate adjustments.

Surface wave (Ms) 5-8 20-180 degrees A magnitude for distant earthquakes based on the amplitude of Rayleigh surface waves measured at a period near 20 sec.

Moment (Mw) >3.5 all Based on the moment of the earthquake, which is equal to the rigidity of the earth times the average amount of slip on the fault times the amount of fault area that slipped.

Body (Mb) 4-7 16-100 degrees (only deep earthquakes) Based on the amplitude of P body-waves. This scale is most appropriate for deep-focus earthquakes.

(This was a quick cut and paste - sorry it's not a better explanation)

HAVE HAD CNN HEADLINE ON most of the time and occasionally regular CNN and have only seen occasional crawling text on the bottom of the screen about it. GRRR.

This story was only reason I had COMMIE/CLINTON NEWS NET ON.

CNN International has the best stuff, mostly breaks in programming to show the news.

Trying to understand Quiz is not really possible. His comprehension of how nature works is at a pretty low level.

Don't believe I've said a thing about

GOD *IS* doing such now.

I do believe He's getting set/ready to do such.

I don't know what His timeline is.

Could be days or years as far as I know.

You guys are a trip. You don't read clearly or understand a fraction of what someone says. You form your own notions in your head which are enormously askew from what was written and then you rail at the person for your cockeyed notion that wasn't said in the first place.

Real admirable, that.

Sheesh.

Why on earth would I be above you?

Certainly don't see myself that way.

More crazy notions about what I said and what I meant, evidently.

That worries me also. It looks like it's going to take days to find out the human cost of all of this. I don't think I'll laugh much anymore whenever someone mentions Phi Phi. I always hear it pronounced as pee pee. Is that correct?

I was wondering if this earthquake would cause any geological changes in that area. Thanks to satellites, we can know in moments if any major changes happened. I just learned a few years ago that undersea land formations show their presence on the surface. An undersea mountain causes higher sea levels on the surface than areas without them. An undersea depression also shows up on the surface with lower water levels. Satellite mapping can tell what's down there just by measuring the surface.

I certainly pray for all the victims.

I certainly believe we are all human.

I certainly believe you haven't studied the end times issue a microscopic amount very fair-mindedly in anything like a Biblical balanced way.

Evidently you haven't read a thing I've said or you haven't understood to the tiniest fraction of a degree what I've said.

Amazing psychological phenomena.

I've noticed. I'm not into reading tea leaves or using a decoder ring to read the bible for 'hidden' messages, or using after the fact timing to claim something phrophetic, much like people do with Nostradamus.

Yeah, its prounounced Pee Pee, I've dived off the coast several times, including the beach in the famous film "The Beach", spent a night there last year, its a great place.

What bothers me so much is that the Thai are the most genuine nice people I've encountered in all my travels, smart, worldly, easy going, peaceful and happy people.

I gotta go to bed, this is a bad situation.

Tidal wave toll: 35 dead, 355 injured Governor Udomsak Usarangkura has ordered doctors to treat all wounded who arrive at private clinics to alleviate the load at hospitals, such as Bangkok Phuket Hospital (above), which have been inundated with injured people since the wave hit Phuket this morning. PHUKET: The tidal wave that hit Phuket this morning has claimed the lives of 35 people and injured some 355, Wisut Romin, the Deputy Secretary of Phuket Provincial Administration Office, has announced.

Speaking at the emergency rescue headquarters set up at the Phuket Provincial Office, K. Wisut said that an earlier report had recorded that 11 people had died at Kata Beach, and nine more died at Nai Yang, where some 91 people were injured and an unknown number of people have since disappeared. K. Wisut added that three people died at Patong, two died at Nai Harn, another two died at Rassada Port, in Phuket City, and two more died at Kamala, where about 150 people were injured. Government officers and police are currently working to evacuate coastal areas in anticipation of another aftershock wave. A warning has been issued on local radio stations for people to stay away from the beaches, particularly those at Patong, Kata, Karon, Rawai and Kamala. Phuket Governor Udomsak Usawarangkura has also ordered doctors with private clinics to remain open to treat any person injured to try to alleviate the load on the island’s hospitals, which have been inundated with injured people since the wave hit Phuket this morning.

I do.

But I haven't written A SINGLE THING ABOUT THAT NOR IMPLIED ANYTHING ABOUT THAT ON THIS THREAD other than

talking about God affirming authentic Christians/congregations. And I didn't even define that. As with most of my prayer, I leave a lot of the specifics to God's wisdom and priorities. I just try to pray in a way that--as some would put it--gives God the legal authority of having a sort of blank check prayed by a human for Him to write out and cash, so to speak.

But hey, I really don't have any confidence at all that there can be any remotely fair-minded dialogue with you about any of this. I haven't seen a single thing that would encourage me that any such would be possible.

Doesn't appear that you understood a thing I wrote.

I have 0.000000000000000000000% confidence I could help you understand.

So when you write tripe like what is above, I am not supposed to think that way?

rich...really really rich...
