THANKS TONS FOR PRAYING FOR MY MISSIONARY ETC. FRIENDS IN THE AFFLICTED AREA. *BOTH* GROUPS OF THEM ARE OK.
> Your prayers may well have prevented the first family from succeeding in getting a flight to the Thai beach which they usually go to immediately after Christmas. THAT BEACH TURNS OUT TO HAVE BEEN THE WORST HIT IN THAILAND. Some of their missionary friends and colleagues are still missing. Prayers still fitting for them. Here's their edited msg:
------------------------------
Thank you for your prayers and care. Yes we were at a beach but in the gulf of Thailand where there weren't any effects felt from the earthquake. HUBBY mentioned "God must want us around a bit longer" since we usually, on our holiday, head for that same part, Khao Lak, just north of Phuket, where the most damage was felt. A lot of swedes & norway people are still missing in that area. It was God's amazingly provision as HUBBY couldn't find plane seats for us for Phuket or else we have had most likely headed to Khao Lak, my favorite beach, on the 26 or 27th at the latest.
We did have a special 3 days with [oldest son] at the beach in Koh Chang, then one night in Bangkok and today early he left back to Milwaukee and we drove back 9 hrs. to Northern Thailand.

The 2nd message from the family closer to the traumas will take a long time to sanitize. Not sure when I'll get to it. Basically, they were on a very strongly hit island but the waves stopped essentially at the road and against the wall of their yard--which held. The poor house across the road was trashed and they are ministering to a lot of locals supporting their camping out in their walled yard etc. Prayers for the W's would still be good in behalf of their ministry in their socially and naturally hazardous area.
THANKS TONS. PRAISE GOD FOR THEIR SURVIVAL AND WELFARE. GOD'S MERCY AND BLESSINGS ON THE SURVIVORS AND ESPECIALLY HIS COMFORT FOR THE BEREAVED.
THANKS SOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND CONCERN.
LUB, LUB, LUB, Quix
Thanks for the update Quix.
FOR SURE.
And you for your prayers and caring! These are all very precious people and potent in behalf of The Kingdom.
Praise the Lord! That is wonderful news Quix! Thank you for brightening up New Years a bit. :)
SURE! AMEN! PRAISE GOD
FROM WHOM ALL GOOD THINGS FLOW.
I missed the earlier messages but that's great news and I'll send my prayers now.
Thanks much. Greatly appreciate the prayers. and while we're at it . . . perhaps this would be worth some prayerful pondering, too:
From a former ambassador level Embassy staff person (European) in Asia:
I had an experience yesterday: The Lord asked me to pray in the Holy Spirit, like he sometimes does and I was crying a lot while praying in tongues. I asked the Lord over and over to have mercy., to open their hearts, to make them understand.
Then I asked the Lord to show me what the prayer was about in His word and I opened in Ezekiel ch. 6. While I was reading, the Holy Spirit impressed me that it was about the US. I think it means that it is too late for mercy.
We must pray more.
Have a blesed new year.
Love, B

Aftershocks can trigger quake in Assam, US scientists caution

Aftershocks of last week's killer quake off Sumatra are moving northwards and can potentially trigger a major earthquake in Assam, scientists in the United States have cautioned the Indian government.
The scientists at the Center for Earth Observing and Space Research in George Mason University in Virginia, who have been analysing the seismic data since December 26, have found the aftershocks moving towards north along 90-degree Ridge.
"If the sequence of these aftershocks moves further north then it may trigger a very big earthquake in Assam region, which is expected by the scientists since long time," Ramesh P Singh, a member of the team and Vice Chairman of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Risk Commission said.
Singh said that the magnitude-5 earthquake on December 30 near Myanmar reported by the US Geological Survey was probably caused by the aftershocks.
Its epicentre falls on the trajectory of the aftershocks.
A 6.5 quake is big.

It's possible that the Chinese have another reading. It's also possible for Xinhua.net to exaggerate a tiny bit every now and then. They are pretty quick though on breaking news. :)
Help me out. What am I missing here?
