Despite being a vet himself, I'll bet McCain would be cold-shouldered by our military in Iraq. The troops know the genuine article when they see it, and Rummy is it.

I honestly think not too many people care for John McCain at all....except the clymer presstitutes, editorialists and producers of TV news shows.

Rumsfeld Pays Surprise Xmas Visit to Troops in Iraq

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld flew into Mosul on Friday in a surprise visit to lift troop morale at Christmas after a deadly attack and following criticism that he had not shown sufficient concern for their welfare.

"The purpose of the trip is to thank the troops and wish them a Merry Christmas," Rumsfeld told reporters on the plane during the flight from Washington.

After landing he visited staff and patients at the 67th Combat Surgical Hospital that dealt with the casualties from the suicide bombing at a base near Mosul on Tuesday, the deadliest attack on Americans in Iraq that killed 22, including 14 U.S. service personnel.

Rumsfeld said the trip had been planned for a while but was kept secret for security reasons and he said the attacks had not been a factor in selecting Mosul to visit.

His trip comes after a number of calls for Rumsfeld's resignation back home from Democrats and even some Republicans unhappy with his performance.

Rumsfeld was criticized for appearing insensitive after soldiers told him they scavenged scrap metal to protect their vehicles and for the disclosure that a machine had signed his letters to the families of soldiers who died in Iraq.

An uncharacteristically subdued Defense Secretary responded on Wednesday and said the grief of the bereaved families was "something I feel to my core."

Rumsfeld will also take breakfast with troops in Mosul and be briefed by commanders on the area's security situation which was deteriorating badly even before Tuesday's attack.

Some had blamed the infiltration of insurgents escaping from U.S. forces in Falluja for making matters worse in Mosul and Rumsfeld acknowledged that could be the case.

"I don't doubt for a moment that some of these folks in Falluja went up to Mosul," he told reporters.

If he isn't a troll, he has been taken over by the leftist body snatchers.

Admin, please have mercy on his poor troll soul, then put him on double secret probation.

Colmes is a jerk and a coward that sits behind his TV desk making stupid comments like that. I don't know how Hannity can stand sitting next to him night after night.

Ohh great... Now Rummy has just another excuse to use an autopen. < /Sarc>

In what other war were letters personally signed by SECDEF?

In what other war were letters ever sent by SECDEF?

In what other war were letters so few that a personal signature by SECDEF was even an option?

If the toll in this war were ten KIA, Rumsfeld would now be pilloried by the Liberal news media for not personally attending every funeral.

Hoping to demonstrate compassion for soldiers' sacrifices

Got to love the AP's use of words...doing their best to imply it's all just an act
that Rummy is putting on.

Keep up your guard Rummy, the jackals of journalism won't rest until they've
run you out of office...

No.

THEY ARE DEPLETED URANIUM ONES!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite RummySpeak exchange:

REPORTER: What are you trying to do with those bunker busters?

RUMSFELD: Kill people.

REPORTER: I meant what do you hope to find when you go to the place you dropped the bombs?

RUMSFELD: Dead people.

I don't buy this report that Rummy was in Mosul.

It HAS to be a lie because all Rumsfeld cares about is, #1. HIMSELF....#2, finding MORE military troops he can get killed off...#3.using his time and job position to serve his own interests/desires.

NAH...this 'report' is just MORE WH propaganda.

It wasn't Rummy..it was AUTORUMMY.

(sarcasm...sarcasm...sarcasm)
