Portland Oregon Abandons War on Terror
Oregonian
Posted on 12/23/2004 10:15:35 AM PST by Retain Mike
We are living through a dangerous time. The war on terror is against adherents to a radical human religion bearing little likeness to the Muslim faith, and committed to our eradication. Within this generation, those trained in Wahhabi jihadism will earn graduate degrees in physical sciences enabling them to plan and execute repeated cataclysmic attacks. These people envision individual beheadings replaced by scientists contemplating a map of New York. However, they need benign and/or supportive environments to organize damage on that scale.
In Portland Oregon the proposed withdrawal from the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (Oregonian 12/21/04) would proclaim the benign environment relished by terrorists. The move would also aid coercion of the expatriate Arab community by the vicious fundamentalists who too often govern their native countries.
In Iraq our troops are fighting and dying to support the struggle of 25 diverse ethnic and religious groups who envision removing an environment of terror and bringing forth a representative government that protects essential freedoms, excludes criminal domination, and examples healthy national life.
As Iraqis fight to eliminate terrorism from their nation, it should not find a homeland in Portland.

This issue will be on the city council agenda in the near future.

Removing federal aid from the city would seem an appropriate response.

I just wish what is bred in Portland would stay in Portland, but that isn't likely.

"The war on terror is against adherents to a radical human religion bearing little likeness an uncanny resemblance to the Muslim faith, and committed to our eradication."There.

Islamic terrorists are only taking their religion seriously. The "Sword Verse" and other Quranic suras are quite clear--ALL unbelievers most be either slain or converted. Jihad is the Sixth Pillar, and the second in importance in Islam. War is a legimate evangelistic tool. Islam is the only relgion to so sanction war and violence of all kinds as legimate means of advancing the faith.

I use faith to mean the spiritual commitment individuals make to live a life that has some meaning. I use religion to mean a purely human construct from a few scriptural fragments to achieve a power base for violent domination. Unfortunately this approach has been much too successful in the Arab world.

The comment is unrelated to fear, but closely related to an ability to work the math. Flying planes into buildings is the creative incite of generalists and not that far up the learning curve from beheadings. The application of modern technical incites to terrorist commitments results in devastations usually achievable only through years of war.

Oregon used to be a far more sensible place until we got a huge influx of Californicators some years back. Now we get liberals from all over the country. That's what happens when people start looking for places to wear their Birkenstocks in winter.
I'm so ashamed of this place. The new mayor is a former Chief of Police whose daughter just happens to be a police officer and a Lesbyterian. Think we can guess what the agenda will be during his term.
