The Catholic League is the nation's largest Catholic civil rights organization. It defends individual Catholics and the institutional Church from defamation and discrimination. |
Okay so you think its not offensive when Atheists say bad things about Religious people? Because I have heard equally offensive statements by both sides.
Also don't pull that "replace x with Jews" people do that WAY to much for it to have any impact.
You again?
God is not a puppeteer. His greatest gift to mankind is free will. Some use it, some abuse it.
Did you just miss the point of what I posted???
Yes, he was a smart man as worldly men go but shallow (as are atheists) and completely lost. Died at age 72 of Alzheimer's. He never had a chance to be saved because he had zero curiosity. Sad.
I was alone with him on his deathbed. I desperately began preaching to him at the last minute which I admit is rather silly. At that point he was so far gone he didn't even know what words meant anymore. The sound of my preaching agitated him as if a demon was in there. It was strange and eery. He died a few minutes later. But hearing my own voice preach the gospel saved me from his fate.
My authority is God and his word but seeing that this is not your authority, how do you know these posts are wrong other than that you believe its self evident. Keep in mind that atheists have rejected self evident as evidence.
There's also the fact that bashing a group to get votes is usually a fast track to bad things, in general. You MIGHT even drive away longtime members of your OWN party who get fed up with the bigotry.
Not at all. It seems, however, that YOU did.
Sorry, I'm not playing your game. You and I BOTH know those posts are wrong, even if our reasons differ. They are indefensible, and all the circular logic you use cannot make them "good".
"Keep in mind that atheists have rejected self evident as evidence."
If you are going to stereotype ALL atheists this way, as have some others here, then we have nothing further to discuss. You, like the worst bigots, are now at the point of enjoying being able to bash a group and get away with it.Fine for you, enjoy it whilst you can.
Just don't call it "Christianity".
I know they are wrong. But you don't. You have no absolute beliefs (except maybe there are no absolutes) therefore everything can be rationalized as correct.
They are indefensible, and all the circular logic you use cannot make them "good".
Logic begins with premises. Atheists have no absolute premises for right and wrong. They are relative. Therefore any posistion is defensible.
Raycpa: "Keep in mind that atheists have rejected self evident as evidence."
You: If you are going to stereotype ALL atheists this way, as have some others here, then we have nothing further to discuss.
Its not a stereotype if its true. Unless of course you agree that its self evident that this complex world had to have a creator ?
" Americans like to whine."
Apparently, they also like to look for reasons to get angry.
Once again, I'm not defending what militant atheists (who are little more than professional "look-at-me-'ers") are doing. It's wrong in the extreme to try to ruin someone's holidays. But that's NOT a justification to engage in the same, or worse, crappy behavior, especially when some on your own side are atheists!
Let's get real...this sort of thing (attacks on Christmas, PC holidays) has been afoot for years. Only now, with the Internet and talk radio, we get to hear EVERY story EVERY day, all of which is calculated to pi$$ us off, and to pit one against another in a season which, regardless of religious belief, should be about peace and goodwill.
I know quite a few conservative atheists who wouldn't dream of ruining someone else's Christmas, nor would they be offended by a smile and a "Merry Christmas!" They should not be tarred with the same brush as the militants, but that is exactly what some posters here have done.
You have no idea of WHAT I believe, Sport. Nor do you know me well enough to make any such judgement. For your information, I'm not an atheist. I'm not a member of any organized religion, however.
I resent, and find extremely rude, your attempts to pigeonhole me into some preconcieved slot. We have nothing further to talk about.
Arrogance. Pure, ignorant arrogance.
Finally we agree.
Though I believe Atheists are ,generally, more likely to get angry and whine more than Christians, though that is purely a subjective opinion (for both of us). Both sides whine far too much for my liking plus the non-stop "playing the victim" card is annoying.
You stated it was self evident that the posts were wrong. You are correct, I assumed you were an atheist/relativist based on that. However, your reluctance to state on what basis the posts are wrong other than self evident implies to me you have some other sort of relativistic belief. I'm sorry if I am wrong.
I'm questioning your continuted insistance that non-christians be forced to work Christmas. My wife is a christian, and she'll be working this Christmas, is that some sort of problem?
I hear you. Sounds like some of these guys think they know more about atheists than atheists themselves.
I wasn't referring to christians in general, I'm referring to specific posters here on freep. I'm getting a little tired of being bashed. Even more tired of being told how I'm out to ruin christmas, when in fact, I'm doing nothing of the sort.
Atheist bashing usually starts with this false premise. Atheists have lack of belief in a deity, they don't "believe in nothing."
Vitriol such as this attempts to lower my opinion of religious people, probably putting them below the idiot leftist atheist activists who want to ruin all the holidays and school plays for everyone. Luckily, I know a good number of honest, understanding Christian friends to counter this garbage.
Remember, the difference between an atheist and a Christian is that the Christian rejects belief in one fewer gods than the atheist does.
