Women warriors from Amazon fought for Britain's Roman army Misleading headline. Women of "high status" were found buried with some military equipment. Doesn't mean they were warriors or fought--may have been just protocol or else they were military leaders like Queen Boudica or Golda Meir; i.e. in charge based on their position but in no way actually doing the fighting. Every time a female is found buried anywhere near some armor or a sword, this kind of nonsense about women warriors comes out.
As for the location of the original Amazons, just remember that the same writing describing them also described Medusa and the Minotaur.
