Tuesday night, I went down to the graduate student lounge in my college for an election night party; mostly just people camped out in front of the television with snacks and drinks. My idea for this column was to take along my laptop, which I did, and chronicle what an expat election party was like. Advertisement
I figured my fellow Trinity Hall students were good for some amusing and interesting quotes, which they were, and that any British students in attendance might provide a different perspective, which they did, and that even if the night didnt go my way I could at least make lots of jokes about alcohol consumption.
But somehow Im not up to editing through that night. I finally left at 6:00 in the morning, and laid awake in bed for half an hour unable to relax. When I finally went to sleep, I dreamed of the Electoral College. Now that, as I write this, Ive gotten back up after a few hours and taken a painful glance at some news sites, its not any better.
What happened?
To tell the truth, I wasnt expecting Kerry to win. But I wasnt expecting this either. A score of homophobic bans on gay marriage passed. An attempt to reform the Three Strikes law in California to a more humane standard (and one that most people thought they were voting for when the original proposition passed) failed. The Senate Minority leader ousted for the first time in 52 years. The popular vote not only in Bushs favor, but a few million people in his favor. The first actual majority vote for a President since his father in 1988.

"Kill a fetus, not a fox!!"
There's an old George Carlin routine that fits her (and her picture) to a T; something about 'why is is it that the only women who are for abortion are women you wouldn't really want to...." Well, you know. :-)
I dunno. See #77.
Well done.
Keerist! The lib intellectual females sure are hard to look at. Not like Laura Ingram, Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan, or Michelle Malkin. Maybe she needs a real man to show her what life is really like instead of the pantywaists she has been around her whole life.
That does often seem to be the case!
I think she's just a Red Diaper Doper Baby from Fresno!
On the other hand, she may be right. I hate anyone who tries to take away what few freedoms I have left.
It's akin to being a "Clinton hater." You know, it's a sure sign of knowledge and a true badge of honor.
It is Christian to come to the aid of others and expect nothing in return.
Dara - with all respect, get an education before spouting off as some ignorant feminist. You seem normal enough, as it goes. Why drag yourself down in a bitter torrent of self-loathing and hatred, particularly based on bigoted lies about 'the other'? Learn about people. Learn about the world. Open your eyes to the hollow victories of socialism, and yes sometimes the indifference from 'holier-than-any' liberals, too. Don't let yourself think you're better than.
As to her article...what childish twaddle. A 10-year-old calling stores and telling them what they should not carry? My Mom and Dad would have yanked the phone out of my hands and sent me to my room until I got my head on straight.
Thank you. I tried, but never got a form to submit comments. I'll keep trying.

If her party ever comes to power, we will ALL have to submit.
That whole diversity thing goes right out the window with liberals when you're not "their kind" of "diverse".
Yeah - a theater and political science major. It beats actually having to learn something. And this is pretty rich coming from the folks who gave us four years of "Bush is a Nazi" without letup.
She's a grad student. What, maybe 24?
My father jokes, Remember the Reagan years, when Republicans were happy to just ignore the poor people? Hes right; those days seem like halcyon twilights of tolerance.
Maybe that's because you ware a BABY!! Also, his father is an idiot because "poor people" and minorites showed economic gains during the Reagan years.
Yes. It just serves to prove that the Demo's philosophy doesn't require any more thoughtful consideration than is available to a naive 10-year-old. Notice her beliefs haven't changed since then, only the cynicism has deepened.
You "progressives" need to get a clue. You scream about individual rights but only the ones of which you approve.
Witness the author lamenting the shift in the government's interpretation of the second amendment...from a non-individual rights position to an individual right's position. It's bad to deny gay's marriage rights - which aren't even enumerated in the constititution - but it's a sin and evil to recognize that "people" in he second amendment means the same thing as "people" in the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth and tenth?

Part II -
Get a friggin clue. There is an argument regarding the gay marriage issue...but there has never been a constitutionally sound argument that the bill of rights protected the government's right to keep and bear arms in the second amendment.
BTW - You "progressives" (which means fucking socialists you morons - and we all know socialist countries had wonderful human rights records, don't we?) are a dying species. But don't expect anyone to put you on a protected endangered species list.

Maybe someone should invite her over here?
Good lord......get it over here; it needs a home; just warn it about the LANGUAGE, not that I disagree with it.......LOL.
