"SHOP AT TARGET -- THEY SUPPORT LGBTQ FAMILIES" (Heads up Barf Alert)

SHOP AT TARGET -- THEY SUPPORT LGBTQ FAMILIES

Rainbow Law is calling for the LGBTQ community to support and shop at Target stores this holiday season. After Target refused to allow the Salvation Army to place bell-ringers and kettles at their stores (because they discriminate against the LGBTQ community), the anti-gay equality crusaders began their usual lies and propaganda campaign.

There is no reason to let this attack go unchallenged. We have the power to counter the far right's relentless assault on our civil rights and liberties. And one of the most effective methods for defeating unfair practices is by using the power of our combined financial resources.

Why would you continue to support companies who donate millions of dollars to campaigns and politicians who are hell-bent on destroying your family?

Rainbow Law has compiled a detailed list of the companies that contributed money in support of campaigns and candidates who oppose equal marriage rights and we are calling for a general boycott of these companies. [FReepers take note: please support these companies to counteract any pressure the LGBT might bring!]

To win the election at any cost, political campaigns lied about Gay and Lesbian Families and they lied about what Equal Marriage really means. Because of those lies, eleven state constitutional amendments banning equal marriage rights passed.

And the opposition was successful in spreading the lies via the media. That is why Rainbow Law also suggests that we find an alternative to mainstream newspapers, television and radio stations. Especially Clear Channel Communications and Fox Television -- two media giants with a proven right-wing bias and agenda.

For an alternative perspective, turn the channel -- listen to and support your local public broadcasting stations. Watch your Public Broadcasting station for the news. Listen to National Public Radio and Air America Radio and read newspapers and magazines like Rainbow Law's Un-Censored E-Zine.

In addition to supporting Target Corporation for their courage to stand up to injustice, we hope you will think queer as you make any purchase.

Instead of spending money at straight-owned enterprises, purchase products from queer owned or queer friendly merchants. When you are in the market for a new home, car, insurance, etc, support people who support your family. If you need help at work or at home, hire queer people to do things.

In the past, boycotts have been used successfully to pressure corporate supporters of bigoted politicians into withdrawing their financial contributions.

Together we have the power to make a difference!

I have no interest in winning over the Left.

Ordinarily, that would be the Right's loss.

I have no interest in winning over the Left. I believe that to be true; what you are most interested in is the thrill of "arguing" -- which is not the same as debating at all.

The other fact that is apparently totally lost on you is that it's not the Left that is necessarily available to be "won over," but those who are undecided.

You must be a heck of an advocate for your Christian beliefs if you have no interest in winning over those who are opposed. Wouldn't you fault radical Islam for having that same attitude toward those who oppose their views?

Don't bother to answer that unless you have something THOUGHTFUL and INSIGHTFUL to say, please.

Personally, I have trouble with dogmatists of ANY stripe.

While you're content to defend the appeasers who populate the corner offices in corporate America. Conservative? You? Bah! You don't know the meaning of the word.

Conservative? You? Bah! You don't know the meaning of the word.

I have to confess: I read some of your posting history and I think it is YOU who do not understand not only the meaning of the term "conservative," but any of the significance of the whole struggle.

Something you have "perfected," however, is the "art" of sniping and taking potshots in every direction, almost at once.

Maybe it's your social life that is needing your attention: "Bah, humbug!!!"

Gotta run...places to go, things to do, people to see!

Merry Christmas, Old Cracker!

Your inflammatory style is one of the biggest reasons the Left are hard to win over; ever think about that?

The other fact that is apparently totally lost on you is that it's not the Left that is necessarily available to be "won over," but those who are undecided.

It is wearisome to try and follow this meandering stream of consciousness. Let me know when you've made up your mind.

Why not enlighten me? What is the significance of the whole struggle?

Why not enlighten me? What is the significance of the whole struggle?

I consider you to be a dogmatist; it may be impossible for you to be enlightened about any viewpoint but your own current one -- or at least not worth my effort as it appears you are primarily hostile and secondarily see "arguing" as debate and worthwhile, and it is neither debate nor worthwhile at the level at which you are accustomed to engage: name-calling, etc.

The struggle: is not casting aspersions on others with quick (though not quick-witted) answers, but honestly exploring differences until an understanding is reached that there is no point of conjunction (and why that is) or that there is a third understanding that may emerge for one or more parties.

Get it?

Sorry to borrow the term "dogma" from someone else's post; I was thinking the same thing but hadn't come up with the term at that point -- but it fits like a glove. More accurately, at least colloquially in the circles I move in, "doctrine" is the positive aspect of "dogma" -- and you, sir, are a dogmatist -- and good doctrine and dogma do NOT always occupy the same space.

But I may be coming dangerously close to "casting my pearls before swine" (to quote Someone Else and no offense meant).

I agree and the VFW gave Target a "heads up" that weighs BIG in my book.
Why hurt St. Judes? why hurt the many other worthwhile charities that Target does help? and why risk hard working Americans employed at the stores being fired or laid off due to these boycotts?

OH PLEASE!!! These people really DO make me want to puke. It is THEY who have relentlessly assaulted OUR civil rights and it is WE who have the power to counter them. The election proved that! Disgusting!

Sign me up for the movement. Government's role is not to subsidize broadcast ventures that can't make it in the real world.

Wal-Mart hasn't destroyed anything. The consumer has made Wal-Mart successful. That's who is supposed to make the decision.

"Questioning" is short for "confused and gullible kids who are being actively recruited by paederasts into the 'gay lifestyle.'"

Who's with me on a movement to de-fund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as well as the National Public Radio?

Count me in. Can we get it on a referendum?
