Kids at YMCA swim meet run into cross-dressing ball

In an incident the YMCA is calling "a very regrettable scheduling error," kids arriving for an early-morning swim meet Sunday walked into a gender-bending scene of the kind most of them wouldn't be allowed to watch on TV.

Several of the kids' angry parents clashed with participants in a transgender fashion show, which had been under way at the New City YMCA since about midnight, resulting in a chaotic melee that was eventually broken up by private security guards and East Chicago District police.

A YMCA member had reserved the entire facility, at 1515 N. Halsted, from 11 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday for a fashion show and ball, which featured cross-dressing and transgender models in a competition similar to the ones shown in the 1991 documentary "Paris Is Burning." But the facility had also been booked to host the youth swim meet, scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday. When the swimmers -- mostly elementary and junior high school-age kids -- and their parents started showing up shortly after 6 a.m., many of the parents were upset to see the "House of Escada" fashion show and dance in full swing.

"It was like they didn't want the kids to see the gay people at all," said Kashma Avery, in a recorded interview provided by WBBM-AM (780). Avery was in charge of a 13-member security detail for the ball, which he said was attended by about 400 people, most of them gay men.

Scheduling policies face review

As parents and other YMCA members began to complain about the event, New City staff reportedly closed off access to bathrooms and locker rooms, barring the "House of Escada" participants from continuing to use the facility. At that point, party guests and parents began confronting each other in the building's hallways and lobby.

"Some of the guests started hearing sexist slurs," said Avery, "and an altercation ensued."

A chair was thrown, and when a witness mistakenly reported hearing shots fired, police were called to the scene. The scuffle was quickly broken up, and police said no arrests were made.

A spokesman for the YMCA, Luis Diaz-Perez, said Sunday, "The YMCA regrets any confusion or concern caused to our members by this scheduling conflict."

He added that New City, which does not typically schedule overnight events, will today undertake a comprehensive review of its rental and scheduling policies.

>>>>The same parents that are ready to beat the daylights out of these YMCA managers probably voted for the politicians that either created this controlling authority or allowed it to be created (via judges).

::screams::

PLEAZZZE freepers!

NJ/NY keeps getting stereotyped for 'electing' these morons.

Has everyone forgotten all the reports of VOTER FRAUD?

Remember H.Clinton tossing away the MIL ballots?

NJ has county voter books subpoened!

NJ/NY/FL voter fraud investigations for double voting!

Stop accusing us of electing anyone. Our votes have been mooted for years.

I'm not sure who "us" is, but I doubt a lot of Freepers are voting for these clowns. The us I'm referring to are the Kerry-type voters, that are actually trying to be responisble parents (like many that showed up at the YMCA that morning), but so driven to hate Bush that they do elect a lot of these clowns, legitimately.

As to the fraud you allude to - correct. As a start, let's require positive ID before being allowed to vote. Heck, I can't even rent a video without ID.

But there are people that can be convinced. Where I work (in Texas), there was an hour long argument between a black guy (age 40) and a white guy (age 30). The white guy was trying to convince him why gay marriage was such a great idea, but the black guy wasn't buying it. In other words, I believe, there is hope - for certain people, but we must reach them.

Well now. The closer I look for a 'link' between YWCA and NOW. I've got too many to choose from.

Seems the YWCA became a focus and even had a sub group, socialresponsibilitynetwork.org formed to focus on YWCA.

LOL.

BobL, I don't know what happened with FR; but lately if I put more than one entry into the TO: section, FR has been dropping the list except for the first entry.

That is my 'standard' Voter/Election/NJ/NY rant.

We had a bunch of bump lists tracking voter fraud. NY and NJ are more RED than BLUE. Look at a county by county map.

Then cross reference to all the voter fraud stories and investigations ;)

More than freepers voted republican. (thank goodness)

Signed,

A Blue State Denizen. :P

I may stand to be corrected, if the YMCA has been hijacked. My only point was to check to see if something was driving them, before assuming that they had been corrupted.

But my bigger point stands, these parents do need to know the consequences of their votes - and many (if not most) who vote Democrat don't.

Seems to be a trend with everything, not just the Y's.

Churches got infiltrated, schools, political seats, et al.

What needs to really be done is to step back and look at the infiltration overall.

And where the money is coming from.

"I used to hit the after hour clubs back in the day and messed with those evil drugs like coke, Ecstasy, etc... Thanks be to God that I did not do any permanent damage to myself or anyone else."

-Listen, I am not judging you. I am only smiling at the recognition of someone who obviously knows what is really going on. The drag queens will say its about equal rights but there is a lot of partying and bathroom sex wrapped up in that two word phrase "equal rights". Otherwise, the fashion show would have been from 8-10pm.

Worse than that, many other Christian organizations are not Christian in the Biblical sense anymore. Many of them are redefining homosexuality and transgenderism as acceptable lifestyles. (sigh)

I can't argue that point. But we are the majority, and we're growing. We can shut this down, if we choose to. We just have to organize reasonably well. I haven't seen a study yet, but given that the Dems got their votes from a few rich people and lots of poor people, it would seem to be that us Republicans control something around 65-70% of this country's purchasing power.

If we can focus our power, we could easily shut down this '60s garbage, and send the Baby Boomers back to their communes. I think that the Internet could do it, but there is a lot of work to be done.

I think there's a sarcasm switch that can be turned on and off. I've seen it but I'm not sure how it works. <:)

Bumping for organizing.

If you have any thoughts with what can be done; please start a ping list.

Since you are new, did you find the FR Network yet?

Unfamilar with FR Nework, any links available?

As to what can be done. I think if we (and it does have to be a big we) can respond to the following hypothetical conversion the following manner, it would be a start:

Blue State Parent (who Voted Democrat):
I can't believe that my child's school is teaching sex education without even notifying the parents, much less asking permission!

Freeper:
Yea, I wish I knew who keeps voting for those Board of Education members that pushing this stuff (knowing full well that the Blue State Parent is one of them).

One of the techniques that the left has perfected is the ability to make people think that they are as appalled by liberalism as we Freepers are (the left in this case being Democratic leaders). That is how they keep getting into power, yet keep from getting blamed when their people carry out their agenda.

As in gay marriage in Mass, when a local Democratic Legislator (hypothetically, again) tells his constituents "no it wasn't me, I just want good schools for good kids, it was those judges over there that did it by decree. I agree, they're out of control."
