Election keeps getting weirder
KING 5 ^ | 19 December 2004 | KING 5 News Staff & Wire Services

Posted on 12/19/2004 8:43:25 PM PST by JosefK

Republican emotions were inflamed by party chairman Chris Vance, who blamed King County elections officials, democrats, and even those 700 plus voters for this situation.

Once again, he demanded their votes not be counted, and left the door open for calling for a whole new election if they are.

"If there's another outcome or another decision and questionable or illegal ballots are brought into the process, we reserve all of our options," he said.

. . .

Democrat candidate Chris Gregoire said voter trust will be eroded more by disqualifying legitimate ballots than correcting mistakes by elections officials and counting them.

She also ruled out asking for a new election, which would be a multimillion-dollar proposition.

"Taxpayers can't afford that in this tough time. A redo is good in games like golf and mulligan when you're practicing, not when it's real," she said. "Let's have the legitimate votes counted let's move forward, and at the end of the week I'll live with the results and I'll call on Dino Rossi to do the same thing."

Mulligan is actually a golf terminology for when you hit the ball into the water

Actually, a mulligan is a golf term that means "I want to cheat".

Perhaps that's what she meant.

"Let's have the legitimate votes counted let's move forward

What Christine actually means is, "lets have the legitimate votes, which more than likely favor me, count. The military votes that showed up late? They are not legitimate and we can't count them".

If that's the case and this evil babykilling monster wins, then I say have the National Guard take over the gov't and wham down the throats of the legislature a new election...

Cummmooonnn. A Mulligan is a free second Tee shot granted by a benevolent opponent when the player in question duffs the ball on the original stroke.

BTW, Clinton played mulligans throughout the course, and saw fit to jimmy his card to conform to his mood of the day.
What a bum he is. If you cheat at golf, you probably cheat in every other aspect of daily living.

Actually, Mulligan simply means "do-over" in golfese.

"Sounds like Washington has another real brainiac here."

Come, now -- nobody can be more stupid than Patty Murray. Her praise of Osama bin Laden ("he built daycare centers for Afghan mothers") forever sealed her reputation as the dumbest cluck to ever grace the US Senate.

Of course, the Washington voters that keep reelecting her were also overlooked when nature was handing out brains.

I'm a Democrat and I did NOT vote for it. I voted for Jay Mills...

You must remember, our legislature is Democratically controlled and so is the governor. So, forget calling out the Guard, it ain't going to happen. Afghanistan can hold a bona fide election but Washington State can't. Who is the the third world country?

I dunno...

I was just venting, but I wouldn't blame the National Guard pulling a Musharraf if Gregoire wins... provided new elections w/in 180 days.

Again, I was just venting. I'm madder than hell about DSHS and Gregoire's failure to act...

I politely beg to differ. McDermott is a slimy, crafty, weasely bastard, and such elements of personal character take brains. Don't get me wrong -- as a human being, he ranks somewhere on the evolutionary scale between pond scum and untreated sewage -- but Patty Murray has demonstrated beyond a doubt that she is a moron.

Souonds like Chris is pretty sure she's going to get enough votes in King County to win.

This is a real hot button issue with me. I worked in a retirement center & know (for a fact) that many absentee ballots were cast by people who didn't even know their own family members. These people would ask the nurses aides, the janitor, & the servers in the dining room, "Who should I vote for...I don't know any of these people." If these folks didn't "help" them out, their daughters, sons or grandchildren would mark their votes for them.

Just ticks me off, big time. This absentee voting in Washington is absolutely rife with fraud & it should be severely curtailed. Voting should be at the polls unless a person has a damn good excuse for getting an absentee ballot...like they're in a full body cast & can't get out of the house. Moreover, the elderly asking for an absentee ballot should be required to provide a doctor's note that they are NOT mentally incompetent.
