A middle school teacher in South Florida has been arrested for allegedly molesting a male student every week for a year in a supply closet before sending him back to class with a note excusing his absence.
Aaron Mohanlal is charged with 37 counts of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a 15-year-old boy, who recently told his parents about the alleged abuse.
Mohanlal, 37, is a teacher at New Renaissance Middle School in Miramar, Fla., and may have been involved with more than one child, according to police.
"There was such a network of kids around this guy that went beyond the student-teacher relationship," Police Capt. Bruce Keesling told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Detectives are also probing claims the teacher gave other juveniles cell phones.
He was taken into custody Friday and was held on $370,000 bail. A Broward County Schools spokesman says if Mohanlal posts bail, he can return to work at the district, but without any contact with children until an internal investigation is completed.
Officials say the abuse started at the end of the alleged victim's seventh-grade year and lasted some 18 months.
The majority of the molestation is said to have occurred in the art room supply closet when the teacher was free for a work period.
Keesling told the paper several incidents took place at the teacher's house and in the teacher's car.
He said the teen, whose name was being withheld, informed his parents last week, as he sought to end the relationship with the teacher, though Mohanlal reportedly kept pursuing the boy.
The family has hired an attorney, Diana Santa Maria, who said the family is "extremely distraught" and angry about the events, but is trying to give the boy the support he needs to recover.
"They feel betrayed by the obvious negligence of the school board, in which they placed their trust," Santa Maria told the Sun-Sentinel. "The administration and teachers are responsible for the safety and security of children."
Mohanlal has been working for the Broward School District since August 2001, and has no prior criminal history.
"I think parents need to withhold judgment until all of the facts are known," district spokesman Joe Donzelli said. "I'd urge people to let the process work itself out to find out exactly what took place and not make the assumption that everything this child said happened."

Yep; and this pervert was most assuredly a Democrat, to boot.
Well, one less to vote next time around! Look at the bright side! *S*

C'mon now. I probably resent the NEA and liberal teachers as much - if not more than you do. But let's not blame them for this. If remember correctly, the catholic Church had some difficulties along these lines too - and they were much less forthcoming with justice.
That being said, I HATE the NEA.

"This guy should do really well in prison./sarcasm off" If he survives the loss of blood after having his private parts hacked off... I was thinking along the same lines. "bobittize" him publicly and then give depo-provera for the rest of his life. I am so GD SICK of these perverts!

If government-school teachers were allowed to marry, this kind of thing would never happen.

If the liberals get their way next election, his democratic vote will count. Especially in Broward County Florida. That was one of the counties having a difficult time distinguishing a hanging chad from a Gore vote, remember?? Also, as someone else has already mentioned in their post, more and more teachers are getting arresting for molestation of children. Unfortunately the ACLU was probably get involved and get this freak a lighter sentence, if any at all. This all goes to show that home schooling your children is not only helping the kids with a better education but also keeping the kids safe from the freaks in the world like this guy and others.

Homosexuals can't reproduce, so they have to recruit.
If you look at most public junior high/middle schools in this country today, they have pretty much taken over.
They take these kids who are at the most vulnerable time of their lives (regarding their sexuality), and brainwash them that it's all about "diversity", and that if they are the slightest bit different or confused, they must naturally be homosexual (I personally refuse to use the euphemism "gay", it's propagandic and misleading).
Anyone who stands up to them is shouted down as a homophobe. If a phobia is "an unnatural fear", then I'm certainly no homophobe. I don't fear them, I just don't like them. They are loud, pushy, and aggressive. I personally think it's personality disorder rooted in one's first five to seven years of upbringing. After my experiences with my stepson (abusive, alcoholic, absentee father, permissive, overprotective mother), I understand it more clearly now.
If any one of them was even remotely honest, they'd tell a similar story. Almost every one I've ever had an honest conversation with has told me of some older man/woman exposing them to their "tendencies", and guiding them to their "true" selves. What a crock.
All teenagers are confused and different. What the homosexual activists are doing to our kids' minds is plain and simple sexual exploitation. I fought this battle with my daughter's middle school and high school for 5 years.
I hope they put this scumbag in prison for a long time. While there certainly is a whole lot of homosexuality in prison, I don't think it will be the kind he likes.

Oh wait a minute, this Broward County, Home of the Hanging Chad. They can't tell a "good" ballot from a "bad" one, either.

So like any good government worker, he still get paid. Do you know any industry where you can "molest" your clients and then just go back in a position where you wouldn't have contact with your clients?

That's right. Mohanlal thought the President said, "No child's behind left alone." Just one of those misunderstandings.

Something about the number 37. If there is justice he may get 37 years of hard time.

That's sick. I hope that young woman wins her case.
Why in heaven's name was SHE suspended? I've read the article twice and no where do I see mentioned if the male involved was suspended or punished in anyway by the school.

New meaning also to, "Art is anything you can get away with."

"A female senior at Rufus King High School was forced to perform oral sex on a male student. When she reported the sexual assault she was promptly suspended without explanation.
An assistant district attorney sent a sharply worded letter to the school district asking that her record be cleared. Her mother has spoken out on the case, demanding action. News coverage prompted an internal investigation.
So far, nothing has changed."
I think the guy was either found guilty or pleaded guilty. Another article (I can't find it) said the girl was attaching letters to her college applications explaining why she was suspended.
