Yabbut a really heavy overcoat with lots of stuff in the pockets works well too, and you won't have to deal with the hernia(s).

Which reminds me: if you wait til January, you can download a free beta from Microsoft. No need to get a worthless demo anymore.

LOL. Of course not. I'm just wondering why Logitech would bundle spyware with its device drivers. I have mouse and keyboard drivers here and they're clean. Now if you want to think about Netropa, that's a different story!

AVG is perhaps the best known *FREE* anti-virus/worm catcher which is not always the same as catching spyware. I use it and find it better than Norton. However, be aware that it has a major problem with XP and doesn't download updates in some cases. You'll need need to configure some files which takes a little work and might be too complex for beginners.

"Check out my FR homepage. I've got some useful informatin there." Ad Muncher rocks! Easiest installation (one click) ever. Eats pop ups.

Ad Muncher rocks! Easiest installation (one click) ever. Eats pop ups. Yup, sure does. It does more than popups too. All Ads are gone, you can stealth your IP if you choose, it'll prevent a whole host of hijacks. It's hands down the best program to improving Browsing ever made. I bought two copies, home and work. Well worth the bucks.
Cheers.

thanks for thread don... and malsua.. wow, what a homepage. I sent it to my bro in OK who is IT guy for state govt.
I have done many things already many here have suggested. Now Firfox; use both ad-aware; spy-bot & also spy sweeper.
I have Had NO problems with popups. I have the block on AOL & mozilla seems to have good automatic block.
all patches are on Xp/sp2. I use AVG (AOL didn't like Norton).
thanks for all info. will surely keep it for use & sending to others.
FReepers are great (even when we have occasional disagreements over things)

wow, what a homepage Heh, thanks. I just updated it some more to include some additional recommendations. I was repeatedly typing this stuff out in spyware threads 6 months ago and it occured to me to just put it all in one place.
I try to keep my page reasonably current as I'm sorta on the frontlines on Spyware. Mostly because I am the guy that can solve the problem at work, not that it has any bearing whatsoever on my job title. heh. Working on Spyware is "below my paygrade" so to speak, and I have my guys fix what they can(by referring to my homepage), it always just seems to fall to me to cure all the new nasty infections.
Good luck! Kill those nasties!

...No need to get a worthless demo anymore...Not worthless. Fully functioning for 15 days.
Perhaps I should have used the term: "trial version".
It found and got rid of stuff Adaware and Spybot couldn't.

I don't use that one. Uninstall/Reinstall usually solves these kinds of issues.
