IMPEACHMENT IS FOREVER - HAPPY CLINTON IMPEACHMENT DAY! (2004)
Free Republic ^ | Sunday, December 19, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 12/19/2004 7:09:10 AM PST by kristinn

This is an edited repost of an article I wrote on last year's anniversary of Clinton's impeachment.

First, an excerpt from a report from that most excellent day six years ago:

A while later the first article of impeachment passed the House ! Being that we had spread out along the avenue by that time, we sought each other out to cheer the good news. We then gathered at the Swamp to inform the WH press corps that "The Constitution lives !" and that it was "a great day to be an American !"

During the next hour or so the remaining three articles were voted on. Article three was the only other one to pass. We rejoiced that the President was being called to account for perjury before a Federal grand jury and for obstructing justice. Much to their appreciation, we took care to inform the police and press as the results were announced.

A special treat today was the presence of CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Our feelings of contempt for Mr. Blitzer have increased since the day he and CNN went along with Presidential spokesman Joe Lockhart's suggestion that CNN break away from live coverage of his briefing when the subject matter got embarrassing for the White House. Mr. Blitzer caught heavy flak from Freepers at irregular intervals throughout our time there. We freeped him with calls such as "Lies of omission are still lies !", "What did Joe Lockhart tell you to say today ?", and when ABC's Sam Donaldson arrived at the swamp, "Hey Sam ! Why don't you show Wolf how a real reporter does it !"

The coup de grace was supplied by DoctorRaoul who unfurled a three foot squar (sic) banner about Mr.Blitzer that was hilariously on target. I'll leave it to him to describe it further.

Further down the thread, Doctor Raoul reported on his banner (CORRECTED FOR TYPOS):

For those of you curious about what upset Wolfie:

A 4 foot by 4 foot hot pink banner said;

CNN CAMERAMAN
Pan Down and Show
Lockhart's Arm Up
Wolf Blitzer's Butt
Working His Jaw

He stood there mad as hell and didn't know whether to you know what or go blind.

Begin edited repost:

Congratulations! It was six years ago today the House of Representatives impeached President William Jefferson Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice.

Those brave representatives survived an all-out war of political brinksmanship which included public threats of retaliation and private threats to bring down the government if Clinton was impeached.

James Carville threatened Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr with "kneecapping;" Alec Baldwin called for the murder of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde; George Stephanopoulos passed along the threat to employ the "Ellen Romesch defense"--a public blackmailing of Congress; Hillary Clinton said on the Today Show that those plotting against her husband "would have alot to answer for" when this was done; Paula Jones was called "trailer trash" and worse for simply seeking justice and an apology; Linda Tripp had her reputation destroyed by a conspiracy of Clinton administration officials and media operatives. Even Monica Lewinsky feared for her life and kept the infamous blue dress stained with presidue for insurance.

Thank God that people like Linda Tripp stood tall and refused to back down in their determination to see that a president of the United States could not commit felonies in office with impunity.

And thank God for people like Jim Robinson, Matt Drudge, Bob Barr, Gary Aldrich, Alan Keyes, Larry Klayman, Lucianne Goldberg, Billy Dale and all the rest who spoke at, organized and attended Free Republic's nationally televised rally supporting Clinton's impeachment on October 31, 1998.

You done good! Impeachment is forever. You can be proud that in America's hour of need, you answered the call to preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

I hope you don't mind, but I just GOTTA borrow that!

Be my guest. I have stunned a few people into silence with the line.

Thanks Kristinn .. good info on this thread for those of us who were NOT FReepers and of course did NOT get our news from the right sources.

My, my, my... How things are different today!

It's refreshing to hear from people like you. It's strange... FR was exposing the same lies and media bias back in '98 that it did with Dan Blather and John Kerry, but no one was listening. FR had some top-notch researchers who would post things that clearly showed the clinton Crime Machine at work. FReepers would read all the facts and sit here putting two and two together, then turn to their TV screens to watch Wolfie Blitzer et al lying with impunity. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it was. So you can imagine how satisfying it is to sit and watch as more and more 'sheeple' become informed.

One more thing: Kudos to the DC FReepers who worked tirelessly to expose Clinton's criminal behavior by protesting every weekend in front of the WH, then posting their Action Reports here on Sunday evenings. They deserve medals!

Momentous event...give us a break....Clinton could have and should resigned,Gore become your President and your country live happily ever after...there was nothing momentous about the impeachment process,it was a disaster for the country which resulted in the USA being made of fun of all around the world....this was not an event of great importance,it was an event of national embarrassment...you must be a Clinton lover in drag

Thanks for your post Nita.. I really , REALLY wish I could have found FR sooner. I have only been into the internet since about 2000 or so.. & usually just hit the weather & movie forums. What a trasure this place is & what fine minds are in abundance. Many lock horns often over various issues, but I consider it such an honor to sit at the feet (lurking more often than posting) as such insight & information.

I think Kristinn is really an admirable man.. I didn't have much time with him in DC for RR funeral, but observing the way he deals with people & the strong leadership & committment he has in his back yard are impresive.

Well, we are in a blizzard here. My trip was aborted.. lots of other things cancelled. so I guess, what is left is to turn on the Browns, make some lunch, grab a Killian & feel very sorry for our team (and others) that have to work in this weather.

you have a good day!!! will probably be on & off FR most of afternoon. It is hard being a cleveland pro sport fan.. very hard.

I despise that man and hope to live long enough to know exactly what's in his stolen FBI files. Orin Hatch too.

Is this the beginning of Free Republic calendar holidays. Mr Robison should sell such a calendar to help defray some of costs. I would buy 20, just to give to my liberal friends. Instead of beautiful girls or beautiful landscapes the photo could be of say, "Clinton wagging his crooked finger at all of us" with quotations. It could be expanded into an almanac. Then we could make a real calendar reminding the world of all of the great things President Bush did, what President Reagan did, what Teddy Roosevelt did and mark those dates.

This was before I found FR (which was during the 2000 Recount fiasco) and it is good to read the historical DC Chapter stories. Deserving of the Cops cheer:

"You guys ready?
One, two, three: 'Bill Clinton, we have you surrounded! Drop the cigar, step away from the intern, and come out with your pants up.' "

Eagles Up! RobFromGa

PS: See you all at the FReepers Ball!
PPS: Anyone got a link to the FR Clinton Legacy map of the White House?
