Actually, considering previous winners, I'd just as soon it wasn't him. It's Times judgement of who or what (remember the computer) made the biggest impact in the year...good or bad. I doubt that the rag will have anything good to say.

True but anything that annoys the Dems makes my day a little brighter.

I'll still never get over them naming Gorbachev man of the 1980's over Reagan.

Gotta love him for this:

"My presidency is one that has drawn some fire, whether it be at home or around the world. Unfortunately, if you're doing big things, most of the time you're never going to be around to see them [to fruition], whether it be cultural change or spreading democracy in parts of the world where people just don't believe it can happen. I understand that. I don't expect many short-term historians to write nice things about me."

My point exactly.

I believe that the writer wanted to just make a concise summary.

You could write a book about the odds that Bush overcame. Also, it wasn't just domestic but most of the world was against George Bush.

It truly was a case where David slayed Goliath.

Agreed. Along the lines of the Nobel 'Peace' Prize. I'm not sure he should be flattered by this.

What's Bush doing in front of the Canadian Flag on the Drudge site?
We buy Canada or they surrender? Things yet to come?

Well, so they resisted the urge to include Rove after all.

It may be a hit piece in the article, but I'm glad they finally couldn't deny him the top spot anymore. Bush was the Man of the Year. No Doubt.

I wonder how bad they will rip him. Doesn't matter I will only be looking at the cover...

LOL! You'll certainly be able to find out the contents of the article on FR over the next days -- and after all, Free Republic and the Swifties had something to do with putting W back into office.

And because of that, here are a few reminders how the distraught, never-going-to-get-it lefties have described FR:

********

The Taipei Times 11/12/04 --Conservative mega-sites such as Freerepublic.com galvanized their hundreds of thousands of visitors into an army of amateur attack dogs -- ready to yap and snap the moment a foolish journalist wrote anything bad about Bush. ---- LOL!

****

LA TIMES!!!!! “cooked up by a couple of amateurs on Free Republic.”....... CBS said we are” partisan political operatives and the other CBS flunky adding "in pajamas." A defensive Dan Rather went on the air Friday to complain of what he called a "counterattack" from "partisan political operatives."

***********

"It was amazing Thursday to watch the documents story go from FreeRepublic.com, a bastion of right-wing lunacy, to Drudge to the mainstream media in less than 12 hours," said Jim Jordan, a strategist for independent Democratic groups opposed to Bush.

"But apparently the entire thing was cooked up by a couple of amateurs on Free Republic. The speed with which it moved was breathtaking."

********

Congrats to G.W., and congrats to FR and the Swift Vets.

The picture was snapped when Bush was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, right before he got up to speak. There was a mural behind him with FDR and Churchill, and being that it was in Canada, there really was a Canadian flag behind him.
