It has been revealed that Kim Jong-nam(age:33), the first son of N. Korean leader Kim Jong-il was visiting Austria recently where he was in danger of being assassinated. However, thanks to the security provided by Austrian intelligence, he was saved.
A source on N. Korea said on (Dec.) 19th, "While Kim Jong-nam was touring Europe in the middle of last month, he was in danger of being assassinated. Austrian intelligence got wind of this plot and guarded him closely. We believe that this assassination attempt had been made by anti-Kim Jong-nam faction in N. Korea."
Anti-terrorism Bureau of Austrian Interior Ministry summoned N. Korean Ambassador to Austria, Kim Kwang-sup and informed him of the assassination plot as soon as they detected the plot. Austrians conveyed to him the stern warning that the plot should be terminated.
Ambassador Kim is the husband of Kim Jong-il's half-sister, Kim Kyong-jin.
The source said that Ambassador Kim reported this incident back to N. Korea. He went on to say, "Austrian authorities wanted to prevent N. Korean power struggle from spilling into their soil. That is why they summoned Ambassador Kim."
It has been revealed that the supporters of Jung-chol(age:23) and Jung-un(age:20), sons of Kim Jong-il and Ko Yong-hee, his recently deceased consort, are behind this plot, fearing that Kim Jong-nam may succeed Kim Jong-il(translator's note: Jung-chol and Jung-un are 2nd and 3rd son of Kim Jong-il. Kim Jong-nam is the first.)
Currently, sons who are on the spotlight as a possible successor of Kim Jong-il are Jong-nam, born from late Sung Hye-rim, and his half-brothers, Jung-chol and Jung-un. Apparently, no decision has been made about the succession yet.

Ping!
What a mess.
Especially in bizarre closed circles like the North Korean leadership, infighting can be devastating. This isn't the kind of thing that's productive at any time. Even less so when your country is half a step away from complete collapse.
Agreed.
I'm so ronery
The Austrians should have minded their own business.
No, things are better this way. They will continue to fight each other, diverting their resources and attention, until one side prevails.
Read this fast three times.....:o)
NEIN!
(Flips lavender-colored, taffeta scarf over right shoulder. Prissily goose steps off of thread.)
Kim was almost more ronery !
They probably shouldn't have even gave him a visa.
Is Kim Il Jong just the weirdest looking dude or what?
Yes, he is. His son, Jong-nam, the target of attempted assassination, isn't any better, either.:)
I hope the Kim Dungs kill eachother off.
P.S. to #15: Now I know what happened to all the food aid.
Kim-chee!
Yep, he ate much of it.(/sarc) Unfortunately, his ballooning body won't help him dodge assassin's bullets.
