Two county deputies shot, along with suspect (Two ARIZONA COPS shot by ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!)

Two Maricopa County sheriff's deputies were shot Thursday during the serving of a search warrant in east Mesa. A suspect was shot by a third deputy.

Deputy Sean Pearce, who is the son of Rep. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, was shot in the abdomen. He was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where he underwent surgery to remove part of his large intestine. Deputy Lew Argetsinger was shot in the hand and taken by ambulance to the medical center. Both were stable.

The suspect, Jorge Luis Guerra Vargas, 22, was flown to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix with nonlife-threatening facial injuries.

According to authorities, detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office wanted to execute a search warrant at the mobile home of a homicide’s investigative lead, but asked Maricopa County SWAT team members to enter first to ensure their safety.

Lt. Dave Trombi said seven members of the team knocked on the door at 111 S. 91st Way at 6:35 a.m., announced their presence in English and Spanish, then broke through the door. They were a short distance inside when a subject opened fire.

Both deputies shot were wearing ballistic body armor, but Pearce was struck in an unprotected spot, Trombi said.

A third deputy returned fire on GuerraVargas, who was alone in the home, Trombi said.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Minter said detectives had hoped to obtain evidence pertaining to a recent homicide in Hewlitt Station, a community near Queen Valley.

A hunter called deputies Dec. 5 after he found a body with a gunshot wound to the head buried under a pile of scrap lumber, Minter said.

Investigators found fresh tire tracks on the scene, and the clue led authorities to the mobile home.

Esteban Soto, the investigative lead in the case, was found Thursday in New Mexico and is being detained for questioning there.

Deputies are still working to identify the body, which is described as a 20- to 25-year-old Hispanic male.

Pearce has been on the force for 11 years, Deputy Argetsinger for three years.

Rep. Pearce, said he was in Washington, D.C., testifying on an immigration panel when he was told his son had been shot.

"He is feisty. He will do well," he said. "I guarantee that the moment he is allowed back, he will put that uniform on and be out there doing police work."

Russell Pearce also was shot in the chest and hand in the line of duty about 20 years ago while chasing gang members in Guadalupe.

Efforts to contact Argetsinger's family were unsuccessful.

Please leave your house and property, and go somewhere else...you have things I don't and I want them. Since Laws mean nothing to you, I am assuming you will do this without struggle...but if you resist, I will kill you, and the local courts are on MY side in the grand "Re-distribution" scheme (since THEY were voted in by folks like me who want YOUR goods and posessions)...after all, your (former) belongings are "too precious" to keep to yourself. It's worth allwoing others to ILLEGALLY take!

You are now reduced to babbling incoherently. Get a grip. You will not kill me.

You are welcome, and I am a man of my word. I said an apology would be in order, and said apology was promptly and sincerely extended.

that want to conserve America's territories, resources, culture

Except for Asiatic peoples, the US had open borders to all including Mexico for humdreds of years. Open borders are more a part of US culture than closed ones. We are a nation of immigrants.

Conservatism is about conserving

I thought conservatism was about limited govt. and individual liberty.

Cool platitude. You should copyright that.

Since the ratification of the Constitution the Congress has had authority over immigration and naturalization. We're not just a nation of immigrants, we're also a nation of laws. If the people, through the Congress, choose to lawfully regulate the border, that is an expression of American culture.

Thank you for your response. I understand your position. There is so much in your post I want to correct but I honestly don't know where to begin. Since the portion of the response that is directed at me is mostly a personal attack, and your incredible insight into my psyche, let me just correct that part. I will let the other writers you have maligned speak for themselves.

Of course it does not follow that ALL illegals shoot cops just because one illegal shoots two cops, but then no one on the anti-illegal immigrant side ever wrote that all illegals are guilty.

Yes they did. That is precisely the image the poster tried to make when he added to the title of the thread "(Two ARIZONA COPS shot by ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!)" I even quoted the title to make my point clear to all.

He would rather deal with an evil made up out of whole cloth from the feverish depths of his anti-bigot little mind than deal with the legitimate concerns of those who want an end to massive illegal immigration.

Right. Racism doesn't exist. The skinheads don't idolize Tancredo. Only pure altruistic patriotism stands in the way of the disease spreading leeches and their greedy corporate enablers. That what I keep reading on these threads.

Shut the borders and deport all illegals means just that

See...uh...I don't know quite how to say this but...I'm not for that. Which of my posts gave you the idea I was for closing the borders and deporting all illegals? Or do you think that, because you said it so forcefully, all further discussion now ends?

This is a typically intellectually dishonest way of ascribing dishonorable and malicious motives to one's intellectual opponents

There was nothing dishonest about the way I ascribed dishonorable and malicious motives to my opponents.

This tactic says volumes about the author of this distorted and dishonest interpretation.

Look in the mirror.

Thank you for a well written yet unsubstantial response. I think I understood you clearly. You have helped me solidify my opinion about the motivations of the many critics of an expanded guest worker program. Should you ever choose to refute anything I wrote rather than show off your skills as a mind-reader and a psychiatrist I look forward to our next encounter. You made me look good kid. I appreciate it.

Mexico does not respect our border. Therefore, I do not respect Mexico. A border is nothing more than a property line. Violate it and there will be consequences. Or, there should be. Well, there might be. OK, some of us don't care, so the rest of us should just pretend nothing is going on.

When property is ill-defined, why must one pay property taxes on it? Seems squatters ought to pony up here.

Some people might think that conservative ideas mean less govt. and individual freedom. That would mean if someone wants to hire someone from Mexico and someone in Mexico wants to be hired, and both do so of their own free will, that transaction should be allowed to happen.

And some here should remember the phrase "LEGAL" immigration...versus "ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION"...those pesky modifiers can really cut in to one's profit margins.

See, it's the LAWS that are being trashed, as well as our quality of life since more of OUR $$$ is being confiscated to pay for the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS way of life. I'll pay twice the price for my lettuce if I can KEEP my own damn $$$ that I earn!

Some other people might think conservative ideas embody the least govt. allowable which means open borders if possible or the least border restrictions given the imperfect world we live in.

OK...if that's your criteria...get rid of the Police, since they are useless unless they enforce the existing laws, Border Patrols and Inspectors as they might as well go home and have a beer if the Borders are open...and leave your house unlocked...it makes it easier for me to ignore the laws I don't like when I come to take what you have.

Do "open borders" also mean that we who were born here must have our wages confiscated to pay for the services of those who cross without having any means?

Do those "open borders" work both ways? Does Mexico, for example, allow OTHERS to immigrate willy-nilly? Does Canada?

Oh, and what about those pesky communicable diseases that come with "open borders"? I guess we should just be quiet and suck it up that Polio and Tuberculosis are the price to pay for a cheap gardener or 25 cent lettuce? And let's not forget smuggling...money laundering...and those naughty terrorists that can use it against us.

No, I disagree..a country that does NOT control it's borders is not a Country very long!

So the 15 million that are here in the US might instigate a bloody revolution? Only if we send them back to Mexico?

Without jobs what other choice do they have to feed their families? I believe 15 million people flooding Mexico can produce no other likely scenario.
