A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

What did the guest sing at Eskimo's Christmas party?
..Freeze a jolly good fellow..
Just before Christmas, an honest politician, a generous lawyer and Santa Claus were riding in the elevator of a very posh hotel. Just before the doors opened they all noticed a $20 bill lying on the floor. Which one picked it up?
Santa of course, because the other two don't exist!
How does Mickey Mouse get around during the winter?
Mice skates.
What's red and white and red and white and red and white?
Santa Claus rolling down a hill.

Cold air is descending upon us in the South, but I understand you New Yawkers will be getting snowfall of up to two feet -- true??
Anything that exceeds 250 flakes in the air is cause for excitement/ SHEER PANIC!! here..:))

Well, Feather is north of me by about two to three hours, and it's been snowing where she is for awhile now.
Snow started for me roughly an hour or so ago.
They're unsure of what final accumulation will be in my area, but north of me will likely be socked one.
Likely there will be people with 4x4's thinking that just because they can get their vehicles to do 60 in the snow, that they should.
They forget that all vehicles have four wheel brakes, and they aren't a big help in the snow.

Yikes, we only so far have about a quarter inch of snow at best, but it's breezy and the temp is fluttering.
I'd have to guess that currently it is 26F.

Love the log cabin and the thought of a fire in the fireplace--miss the one we had in North Carolina.
We built our house 20 miles from Greensboro on 1.34 acres of hardwoods, carving out just the space for the house and driveway, and expanded the 6'x10' landing on the back to a huge series of decks, with 3 broad and wide steps (where children could sit and play board games, eat, etc.) up from the driveway!
Planning carefully (the builder allowed me to stake out the foundation, ( 170 feet from the road), we deliberately situated it so the planned deck expansion encircled a large oak tree -- wonderful to sit out there with shade, and watch the light slanting across through the woods in the mornings and evenings...
In inclement weather or snowfall, it all was visible through sliding glass doors off the dining area.

We were out for a little bit and steam was coming off the Niagara River.
The 2 ft of snow is in the south towns and hour drive south. Lake effect snow
We have 2-3 inches, I'll break out the broom and sweep it, LOL!
No work for tomorrow high of 13.......................! BRrrrrrrrr!

Sleep well, LUV W.
I'm preparing to go to bed, too, our temperature going down to 21 tonight, and only in the 30's during the day tomorrow.
The Good News is it will soar back up to 56 Tuesday.
Our cold spells are short-lived here, and we miss most of the bands of 'stuff' (ice/flakes) that veer northeast above us.
I, however, have served my time in the 60's when I lived in Rapid City, South Dakota from one Christmas to the next, and then traversed through Canada and over the Alaska Highway to Fairbanks, Alaska for 3 1/2 years.
See your cold, LUV, and raise you 'down to days when the HIGH was 40 below zero' -- hung around -50, and I've experienced a day of - 80, with a rare wind chill factor ---
Glad not to have to contend any longer with extremes!!
Have a great week.

I must confess
my wife does most of the Christmas shopping and close to 100% of the wrapping. However, I do most of the Christmas eating.:-)
