CALGARY, December 14, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The covering-up of the picture of a saint, depicted inside a chapel at Calgary's notorious Foothills hospital, has brought the ire of local Roman Catholic bishop Fred Henry.
The hospital claims the picture of St. Luke, a physician, is offensive to non-Christians, and has had doors placed over it. A note over the doors explains that any representation of the human form in a place of worship is offensive to both Jews and Muslims. Bishop Henry said the move is ridiculous.
The Foothills hospital gained notoriety in 1998, after nurses charged that hospital staff were committing infanticide. Doctors performing illegal late-term abortions there would later neglect otherwise viable babies that were born alive, according to nurses, letting the babies die. A police investigation that neglected to interview eyewitnesses said the claims were unfounded.

Ping!
Is this a Church-related hospital??? My gosh. Does the Church own the property?
Abortion is offensive to a lot of people. Why don't they stop that?
the calling of a conscience can cause people to react in very strange ways.
Who owns this hospital? Seems like the most important aspect of this story is missing here...
So the hospital "does an Ashcroft."
Any chance this "cover-up" will get "exposed" beyond a prolife newsletter? Hardly.
Some interesting discussion of St. Luke the Physician at:
http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=76
Although this is a Catholic website, it does an excellent job of piecing together the biblical evidence about Luke, including a few points I had not been personally aware of before reading it.
I need to immigrate to a Christian land soon.
Nice slam at Ashcroft for something that didn't happen. The Statues of Justice have been covered by a blue curtain for press briefings as far back as the 1960's. What Ashcroft did was "buy" the curtains instead of "rent" them as had been done in the past. He saved the DOJ money by just owning the curtains instead of renting them. But the press tried to make him seem like a prude and thus insinuated that he was offended by the exposed breast of the statue and so therefore went out and bought those curtains.
Nice way to keep spreading the media lie.
They should cover up the picture, so St.Luke doesn't have to see the shame that covers their hospital.
From the limited research I have done, it appears this is a private hospital organization, not related to any church.
Ping to self for later pingout.
Come on down! We need you and your vote. Besides, the liberals are emigrating to Canada because they 'need' socialism. You can probably pick up one of their properties for a good price.
I knew it didn't happen as reported, but I didn't it take so seriously. Maybe I should have-Sincerely sorry. And I never knew about the rent-issue on the curtains.
I will sin no more. For my penance, I will read 30 minutes of conservative blogs (looking forward to that).
Sorry. Came across way too harshly.
Glad this was in frozenland, and not any place that counts.
