Marriage and health often go hand in hand, research shows.
Except for weight problems, married people are healthier than those who are divorced, widowed, never-married, or live with a partner, says the CDC.
The news comes from a new CDC report that looked at more than 127,000 adults between 1999 and 2002.

I wonder if you can account for the weight based on the age--after all, married people do tend to be older, and younger people tend to be thinner...
Could also have something to do with men having something decent to eat when they get married too. lol I know when I was single, half the time I would think "I'm hungry, but I really don't want to cook anything. Oh well, that feeling will pass." LOL

Or wives. I cook in my household, out of self-defence. That said, my wife has many other very fine qualities. I really enjoy cooking anyhow.
That's why the gays want marriage rights - they want to be healthier !
1. Married men tend to eat better than single men, not necessarily because their wives cook for them (as many do), but because single men often don't want to bother cooking just for themselves, and end up ordering pizza, getting fast food, etc. When there's someone else in the house, it's much easier (and more fun) to cook.
2. Women are much more health conscious, and more willing to seek professional medical advice/attention. Men are more likely to try to "tough out" illnesses, injuries, etc. Women are good at convincing us big oafs to go to a doctor. Case in point: I was sick all through last winter - a continuous cold with coughing, congestion, etc. Eventually, I developed a rattling cough, and my girlfriend convinced me that enough was enough, and I should see a doctor. I did, and was immediately put on antibiotics to clear up the bronchitis I had developed, and been suffering from, for months!
Yeah, I know, I'm a dope. Men and women have their strenghts and their weaknesses, which is why they're so great when you put them together.
And fatter, too, apparently.
Notice that we can still talk about marriage and not have to specify what kind of marriage? I wonder how long that before we see articles like this:
Married [gay turtle] couples snap at each other less than singles.
Speaking as someone who just got married a couple weeks ago, I think the reason is because most wives (reasonably) want their husbands home instead of out playing sports with the boys. I've had to cut back on the amount of squash I play, I'm sure others have had to with tennis, golf, softball, lifting weights etc...
And fatter? :)
