JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A Christmas tree that decorated the lobby in new federal courthouse downtown has been removed.
Late last week the Government Services Administration, the agency that maintains the building, acted on direction from the Chief Judge to pull the tree. A lighted snowman, reindeer and sleigh has replaced the tree.
A spokesperson for the GSA could not give specifics on why the tree was taken down. Gary Mote who handles Public Affairs from the Southeast Sunbelt Region says the decision was to "...make sure no one is offended."
The artificial tree that was decorated with non religious ornaments has been placed in storage.
That's just silly. There's no reason to remove Christmas trees from public buildings.

I believe these instances of eliminating Christmas and the mention of Christ are blown out of proportion. My husband's job requires that he travel all day. He mentioned just this morning, he's never seen more decorations, declarations of Merry Christmas, and celebrations of Christ's birth than he has this year.
I don't think Big Business will like that one bit. Considering that Christmas is "THE" shopping time of the year.
Is there a way to get in touch or email the GSA for this area. I'd like to email them and enlighten them that they have offended me!!

2)Public use of foul language
3)semi-pornographic images on magazine covers prominently displayed at supermarket checkouts (and no I'm not even talking about Playboy)
I could go on forever. My point being, why is no one worried about offending ME?
Hey let's call PETA. They're making fun of snowmen on that display.
Everyone knows the abominable snowman was real (wasn't he, wasn't he? Hollywood said so), reindeers are being exploited here (poor things made to pose for hours on a tree while hundreds stare at them - oh my), and everyone in the transportation unions knows that sleighs are unreliable and the runners fall off while your kids are speeding down a hill. Now c'mon folks, where's the outrage! ((sarcasm)).
Do you see big business standing up for the right to call it Christmas? No you don't, so why should we care. I firmly believe that the people should let the merchants suck wind. We are the ones that CAN control what happens but only if we do something other than just stand by and let the ACLU and other secular socialist idiots tell us what we can and can't do!!!!!!!!!!
I'm really tired of it. The manipulation and the idiots trying to control us. I've never seen the likes.
Trying to take the American life away from us. I'm fed up.

this is absolutely shocking, all you right-thinking people should move to europe and the UK where christmas is still celebrated by the government and people can practice their religion in peace.
and we have daily prayers, hymm singing and nativity plays in state schools.

GSA may not be guilty on this if it's at the Federal Court building.
Not sure which justice might have ordered it out, but the chief justice for the middle district of Florida is Patricia C. Fawsett. But they have several offices, only part of which sit in Jacksonville. If you click on the link for Juciary information, you will find a list of justices and their contact info. Don't know if the justices are listed according to rank or not.
