HBN, WASHINGTON, DC, Tues. Dec. 14: Sen. Hillary Clinton is seemingly taking a hard-line against illegal immigration and is being lauded by Conservatives for the position.
The Washington Times yesterday cited at least two instances in recent weeks, when the New York Senator has stated her tough stance on the issue.
These reportedly include an interview last month on Fox News last month when Clinton said she does not "think that we have protected our borders or our ports or provided our first responders with the resources they need, so we can do more and we can do better."
And in an interview on WABC radio, she said, "I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," according to the Washington Times.
"Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we're going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let's have a system that keeps track of them," the paper quoted her as adding.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, a conservative Colorado Republican, who has been a staunch backer of tighter immigration policies, has taken notice.
"She's not a dumb woman," Tancredo spokesman Carlos Espinoza told the Times. "She's got a great liberal base, and she realizes there's no better way to draw in more conservative voters. She has really come out to the forefront on that."
Meanwhile, in a statement on the passage of The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, Clinton stated, While I look forward to a productive debate on immigration issues in the next Congress, I am pleased that there are a number of key immigration reform provisions in this legislation, including those addressing the process of obtaining U.S. visas.
The move is being viewed by Conservatives as a welcome ploy to pull in more voters from Republican states, should she run for President in 2008. Hardbeatnews.com

They said that she was going to start moving toward the middle ground to prepare for her running for President in 08.
Until she gets what she's after politically......

Thus far Ms. Clinton has done nothing about immigration - she only does something when it helps HER.
I am sure that she will pull in a lot of conservative votes since we believe everything this SOS sprews out.
Running to the Right of Bush so she can blame him when terrorists strike.
If anybody believes her I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.
Hildahbeast will be for whatever will get her into the White House, She has no low that she will stoop to, in the accomplishment of this goal. How about Mark Rich!!, How about the Jewish Contribution of funds that freased the cell door to open for the convicted felons from the Jewish community. Oh there is so much more Clinton History of Defending America and their work against Illegal Immigration.
And so the "shift to the right" begins. I am not sure what is worse. That it is such blatant crap or that even with it being that blatant that people will still fall for it. Peggy Noonan has per pegged (no pun intended) perfectly. She is the ultimate cynical politician with no more connection to core beliefs than "If I say [x] will it help me get elected?"
Let us read her correctly. Now that more and more hispanics are going
for the GOP, Hillary doesn't want them voting in anymore elections.
Hillary will actually do nothing on this... if Republicans attempt to... she will support it right up to the time to vote on it -- and then, vote it down because it was 'flawed'.
She's got cunning but she can't go against the bleeding-hearts who dominate her party.
Howard Dean was on Sunday morning talking about how democrats go to church and believe in God. He even said that democrats don't all believe in abortion ---- the democrats know the Christian vote cost them this election --- but sadly they don't have to move very far to get to the right of the Republicans. And it's weird to hear democrats talking about the need for government spending cuts.
Her heinous can move to the far right in her utterings, or is it udderings, everyone sees her and the rest of her party as nothing but LIARS and TRAITORS.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.....
That scorecard on Hillary is not much different (gradewise) than the scorecards for
Kay Bailey Hutchinson (TX)
John Cornyn (TX)
John McCain (AZ)
etc.

Excellent point, R.B.A. Ya beat me to it.
"she said, 'I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants...'
No, "you know," we do NOT know that, Mrs. Clinton.
They are all for spending cuts just as long as you don't take away services or entitlements. Of course that makes no sense but then, do the libs / dems ever really make sense?
