Poll Shows GOP on the Move: More Ink to Follow?

NEW YORK A new Gallup poll shows that the public values “values” less than November exit polls suggested, but another survey from the same outfit released today shows a historic surge in Republican party affiliation.

In Gallup's latest poll this month, those identifying themselves as Republicans jumped to 37% of the public, with Democrats now clearly trailing with 32%.

Democrats have long held more party members than Republicans. During the Clinton years, the bulge was about 5% to 6%. As recently as late-October of this year the Democratic edge was 37% to 34%.

Gallup noted today: “Post-election shifts in partisanship after presidential elections or midterm congressional elections are not routine, but are also not uncommon.”

Another Gallup poll also released today showed that, contrary to many press reports, “values” ranked well behind the war in Iraq, terrorism and the economy as a prime concern of Americans.

Huh? Okay so there not routine so that means they don't happen that often, but they are also not uncommon which means they aren't rare (they happen enough to be common). Hmm are you sure they are not quoting Kerry here, this really sounds like something he would say.

Editor & Publisher is made up of what the name implies. This means that they are liberal to the core and will always do whatever is necessary to minimize any gains we make.

Given the RATs' core constituency of queers, convicts and aborted fetuses it's inevitable that their numbers will continue to dwindle. Pretty neat...an agenda that guarantees not just defeat, but extinction.

The Democrats held congressional power for 40 years--the power of the purse buys a lot of influence (direct and indirect). If the Republicans can do likewise, they will reshape this country for generations.

What is most important is for Republicans to not let this get out of control. I would hate to see a Republican party thirty or forty years from now that is essentially "buying votes" through a host of unnecessary government programs merely to retain power.

Maybe the dems who are screaming for recount/investigation in Ohio will get a hint?

But wait until after Zell has been on FOX a few months - there'll be a lot more cross overs as the "old" dems realize "what happened" to their party - it got hijacked by the socialists...

I think what they mean is: they are not routine, meaning they don't happen every time. They are also not uncommon, which means they happen sometimes. These two statements are pretty consistent, if you ask me.

So in other words: The Republican candidate got more votes than anyone in history BEFORE it was cool to identify yourself as a Republican. Now that he won, there are additional bandwagon Republicans as well. These folks will stick to the party so long as it's winning, regardless of the party's stand on "values".

Conversely, it is now less cool than at any time since May, 1865 to be a Democrat and the fair-weather Democrats are up for grabs.

Sweet.

Maybe people are beginning to realize that being a Demo Rat is the same thing as being a jackass. Pelosi, Kerry, Kennedy, Daschle, Schumer, Rockefeller, Leahy, Boxer, Feinstein, Nelson (FL), Clinton, Clinton, Reid, Byrd, Hollings, and so on.

Fair weather democrats my butt. 32 years as one was anything but.

The socialist left have hijacked it and any democrat with half a brain knows that.

The democrats were anything BUT winners for all those years and we didn't cut that tie during any of it.

People are just beginning to wake up and see just what the democratic represents.....and it ain't pretty. The Michael Mooreons can have it, and those that stick with it.
