The grocery stores in Columbus are the size of a small town.
I can't find it in my heart to speak against Tenet. I know he is a Clinton holdover, and other people may have served better if they had held the position instead. IMO, he's a decent guy.
And, For whatever it's worth, I think he respects the President for not tagging the burden of 9-11 on his head and keeping him on the job. Clinton would have destroyed Tenet to save his own skin. I respect that the President didn't allow the man to be the fall guy for the actions of murderous terrorists, and respect Tenet for recognizing the character of this President in the aftermath. Bush could well of saved this man's life by not dismissing him.
Have no quibble with Bremer receiving the award but Franks is my personal favorite.
Looking forward to tomorrow for the airingof the W.H. Christmas special.

Well I'm officially jealous. :-) Or would be, if I wasn't moving in less than two months to a beautiful pasture in the middle of the ranch my husb. has his cattle at. . . . trees all around . . . beautiful sunsets . . . there is a pond that I'll drive by every time I leave/come home . . . so I guess I have a water view . . . and most importantly I'll be closer to where my husb. works and my kids have their cattle and sheep.
Now I'm sticking my tongue out at you, too . . . but I can have home-grown steak any day . . . LOL!

I am a DU Funnies fan! I finally had myself added to the ping list after I found I was searching for the threads on a daily basis.
The thread seems to satisfy a primal curiosity about the DUmmy insanity but without the distaste of actually visiting their foul site. And PJ's responses are hilarious.

I almost feel sorry for those poor DU'ers and their delusions and denial . . . or will feel sorry for them when I'm done gloating that WE won the election (which if you read today, they don't acknowledge . . . )
I've been trying to find a good place to post my vent without starting a vanity thread.
Maybe some of you here have experienced something similar.
An old friend with whom I used to be close sent me a Christmas card with a family newsletter last week. We had drifted apart and had no contact for several years.
Well, I read the personal note in the card and planned to read the newsletter later. I noticed an email address in the note, so I dashed off a friendly note to the girl.
After I sent the note I read the newsletter, which said that she had been in a major depression since November 3 and may need therapy. She went on to say she doesn't know how anyone could have reelected "George W." Then she said she had become a political junkie and she watches Chris Matthews and Jon Stewart every night.
When she emailed me, she asked if I would mind her sending me "forwards." I sensed an opportunity to lay down the law at that point that I do not want to get any anti-Bush garbage in my inbox, so I tried to do it tactfully by saying that I read some forwards people send me and delete most, but don't mind getting them from friends. I went on to say that I send some myself sometimes, my favorites being cute animal pics and political cartoons. I then told her I'd spare her the cartoons since she and I are on opposite sides politically, and that I hope she would refrain from sending me political humor.
She wrote me back and told me that she was curious why I supported our president and she would appreciate it if I would tell her. She said that she wouldn't bring the subject up again. She ended by saying she respects my opinion.
I was relieved that she seemed to be able to handle a reasonable discussion on the topic and decided to put something together which would contain facts that she has probably never been exposed to. I set about spending several hours last night going through my bookmarks here, searching Google, etc., pulling a few things together that would be bulletproof.
I sent her an email that said simply that I would be happy to share with her why I support President Bush, but please give me a few days to do some research because I want to back what I say up with documentation and that I could send volumes but I wanted to keep it brief, so allow me the time to pull a few things together.
Okay, so this evening when I got home, there was a message in my inbox from her that blew my mind.
She said she doesn't know why I'm planning to send her a bunch of anti-Kerry stuff because she doesn't like Kerry. She just hates Bush. She said she doesn't understand why I want to still read political cartoons making fun of democrats because "you won." She said she doesn't see anything funny about democrats now. Again, she said, "after all, your side won."
She then went on to say that she abhors Bush and has an Anybody but Bush bumper sticker on her car and she won't be convinced by anything I say, and Bush is terrible for the environment, the deficit, the horrible war in Iraq, yada yada yada.
Her tone was snippy and it was clear that the bit about being genuinely interested in my position and respecting my opinion was BS.
At this point I have filtered her email address and set to delete any further mailings from this person. She says she respects my opinion and then before I can even tell her my opinion she goes off on me like that?
I wonder if any of you have had a similar experience and how you handled it.
They are sooooooooooooo delusional, in such denial . . . and I'm sure a whole bunch of other "d" words.
Ours aren't quite that big. Well, this one isn't anyway. It's definitely not expensive though and it's not family-run either. Since this one is right outside our neighborhood, it's the one we always go to for last-minute stuff like hamburger buns and stuff.

He came by and I shook his hand, and he said "How are you doing?" So natuarally I burst into tears and drooled and said something that I don't remember (which I'm sure was completely incoherent). And I told him how much I loved him and he said "Well, thank you!"
Then as he started leaning into the crowd to shake other hands he almost knocked me over (I didn't mind!), so I grabbed his arm to steady myself and just didn't let go! He apologized for leaning on me and all I could do was grip his arm! He smelled so nice...so after a second he looked me square in the eyes, laughed, and shook out of my grip...
Ah, what a day that was!
