The truth is that everyone has a God-shaped hole in their hearts.

Dean Hamer's impugned decade-long attempt to fabricate a "gay gene" doesn't inspire much confidence in his latest line of work....

I don't know what Rush is all worked up about. I learned this in the first grade at Catechism.

6. Q. Why did God make you?
A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.

Of course we're wired for religion...God made us that way.

No offense meant, but it may be that human ego is a major factor in people believing in an hereafter life.

People just don't want to even consider that they are a beautiful accident that will not go on forever.

Okay - here is the scripture: "EVERYMAN has been given A MEASURE OF FAITH".

Why does everyman need "a measure of faith" - in order to believe Jesus is the Son of GOD, our Savior.

But .. in Deut. 28-29, GOD clearly says, "I've set before you blessing and cursing, NOW YOU CHOOSE".

Are humans programmed to worship? Author says people have genetic propensity toward religious belief

Take religion out of public life, and people fill it with things like Environmental activisim, which certianly calls for lots of faith.

This is why communists typically attack religion. They see it as "competition".

The problem with progressives actively seeking to destroy Western style Christianity is that they may succede to some extent, but they can't guarantee what it will be replaced with. They're playing with fire, and they have no idea how it will come back to bite them. (Islamism perhaps?)

NO..in fact quite the opposite

The "nature" of man is EVIL the Word aka Jesus Christ is quite clear on this..

It is our nature to do evil and plan evil non stop...it's what we do....we were re programed by at the Garden when Eve and then Adam fell into sin...and we lost our divine nature and put on a robe of selfish fleshly desire..

Only Divine intervention can cause us to do what is right, and good and pure....

The lie that man is good...is a secular humanist - Marxist lie...designed to trick mankind into worshiping the self as god...and to seek human solutions to all problems (especially the ones man created in the first place)

Man is programed to avoid worship...it is discipline to worship God....as

He is the author and finisher of our faith....not us...lest any man should boast...

imo

From a speech by Michael Crichton:
I studied anthropology in college, and one of the things I learned was that certain human social structures always reappear. They can't be eliminated from society. One of those structures is religion. Today it is said we live in a secular society in which many people---the best people, the most enlightened people---do not believe in any religion. But I think that you cannot eliminate religion from the psyche of mankind. If you suppress it in one form, it merely re-emerges in another form. You can not believe in God, but you still have to believe in something that gives meaning to your life, and shapes your sense of the world. Such a belief is religious.

Today, one of the most powerful religions in the Western World is environmentalism. Environmentalism seems to be the religion of choice for urban atheists. Why do I say it's a religion? Well, just look at the beliefs. If you look carefully, you see that environmentalism is in fact a perfect 21st century remapping of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and myths.

There's an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity with nature, there's a fall from grace into a state of pollution as a result of eating from the tree of knowledge, and as a result of our actions there is a judgment day coming for us all. We are all energy sinners, doomed to die, unless we seek salvation, which is now called sustainability. Sustainability is salvation in the church of the environment. Just as organic food is its communion, that pesticide-free wafer that the right people with the right beliefs, imbibe.

So now the guy who gave the world the so-called gay-gene ("once gay, always gay" -- with apologies to Calvin), says there's a religion gene too?

The existence of genetic religiousity would explain a lot, and absolve me of a lot of responsibility. I didn't choose this Christian lifestyle after all. Who would choose this way of life, with the rejection and ridicule that goes with it? Why, in some countries were hunted and killed...

I'll tell ya whut, it breathes new meaning into my tagline!!!!!

Although people can change or abandon that religious affiliation, they cannot rid themselves of the genetic propensity to be spiritual.

Hmmm. How about this:

Although people can change or abandon that religious affiliation sexual orientation, they cannot rid themselves of the genetic propensity to be spiritual sexual.

Oh, wait, that's not PC to admit that the expression of underlying propensities can be (gasp) changed.

If this is the subject of the recent guest on the Art Bell Show, the originator of this hypothesis is highly annoyed that someone has taken his idea without credit .

I heard Limbaugh talking about this. He's making a mountain out of a molehill in my opinion and mustn't have a lot to talk about otherwise. The idea that human behaviour has a genetic component to it does not mean that every detail of behaviour is hard-wired into our genes, as Rush would have us believe the scientists are saying. Some aspects of behaviour is instinctive, some is learned. In creatures like insects and in some aspects of bird behaviour, everything is preprogrammed stereotyped behaviour. In humans, a lot more is obviously learned. All this guy is saying is that the urge to find some spiritual fulfillment may have a genetic component to it. The details depend on the cultural setting, the same as language. Rush is justing looking for a stick to beat scientists with, in my opinion. Flame away.

I have come to believe that the belief in God is genetic. That belief in God is as much a part of evolution as humans walking on two legs. It is a natural thing that comes from life itself.

It is natural because intelligent life forms that did not have faith and orientation towards God did not survive. It is critical that in order to succeed intellingent life forms must have faith.

let them believe there is such a "gene" (sounds like a "powerful delusion" to me).

then let them try to breed it out of the race. then watch the earth be populated by freaks. great plot for a movie, eh? you heard it here first!
