But this "scientist" says that only SOME people have this genetic claptrap thing. Some do, some don't. IOW, it's just some quirk of biology that makes some mindless robots believe in "god" and other mindless robots NOT believe in "god".

She insists that it is a proved fact that there is a "gay Gene".

It's the same one that makes some people like Streisand & Minelli...

Very interesting analysis. Thanks.

As far as the "gay gene," certain behaviors (such as alcoholism, obesity and homosexuality) MAY have a genetic component. But it's not like eye color or height. It's a behavior. where the behavior has negative health effects, society generally discourages it.

"Okay - here is the scripture: "EVERYMAN has been given A MEASURE OF FAITH"."

That wouldn't be classed as a "genetic" propensity

Here's a link to the thread about the lack of evidence for a "gay" gene, a summary put together by an alert freeper:

The same guy (Dr. Dean Hammer) who is the subject of this thread, is also the subject of this one:

...they are already pre-programmed to be that way...

There is a considerable amount of truth to this. While we're still in the womb, the basic course of our lives is already shaped by who we're born to and what genes they impart to us. Here are just some of the things that, well before birth, will shape your life and the range of life choices open to you:

To a considerable degree, we are predestined to be the people we become.

Thanks for that link. Very interesting. I see that both Dean Hamer and Simon Levay have recanted the characterization of their research that led to the widespread belief in a "gay gene" (which is rather different from a gay 'influence' or whatever - a much more subjective and circumstantial aspect of behavioral genetics).

What this guy is talking about in this book is human spirituality, not worship. Our spirit, soul, or whatever you want to call it is made in Gods image. (suprise! it's not our bodies which are created in Gods image) This is our "God" gene. It gives us our sense of right and wrong. Otherwize we would be animals and have no concience, which the Godless left wants to be.

Are humans programmed to worship? Author says people have genetic propensity toward religious belief

Take religion out of public life, and people fill it with things like Environmental activisim, which certianly calls for lots of faith.

This is why communists typically attack religion. They see it as "competition".

The problem with progressives actively seeking to destroy Western style Christianity is that they may succede to some extent, but they can't guarantee what it will be replaced with. They're playing with fire, and they have no idea how it will come back to bite them. (Islamism perhaps?)

NO..in fact quite the opposite

The "nature" of man is EVIL the Word aka Jesus Christ is quite clear on this..

It is our nature to do evil and plan evil non stop...it's what we do....we were re programed by at the Garden when Eve and then Adam fell into sin...and we lost our divine nature and put on a robe of selfish fleshly desire..

Only Divine intervention can cause us to do what is right, and good and pure....

The lie that man is good...is a secular humanist - Marxist lie...designed to trick mankind into worshiping the self as god...and to seek human solutions to all problems (especially the ones man created in the first place)

Man is programed to avoid worship...it is discipline to worship God....as

He is the author and finisher of our faith....not us...lest any man should boast...

imo

Matchett, to acknowledge how much of our lives is shaped before we're born by both "nature" and "nurture" is simply common sense. Doing so in no way denies the existence of God or the extent to which we are responsible for being good custodians of the life given to us. However, we ARE given a particular type of life to lead. We are, so to speak, directed or channeled onto a particular life path. Once we're on that path, however, what we make of it is up to us. Why God chose to create us in this way, I cannot say. But He clearly did.

Re # 31..Take religion out of public life...

Most reasonable people believe what they like and do not try to convert, convince, intimidate, cajole or otherwise insist that others must agree with them.

Unreasonable people insist other must do as they do.Muslims seem to be a perfect example of unreasonable people, many of whom have demonstrated that they will kill those who do not agree with their interpretation of God.

Pathetic.

The Left has an agenda and this guy Hamer is busily engaged in advancing it. You've missed the whole point.

I don't intend to be dragged into a different subject.
